Count of Montecristo Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Just had my first aged 2017 H. Upmann PC, I haven’t had an H. Upmann since 1999. Even aged 6 years it was still on the strong side. I could tell it must’ve been a pepper bomb, but has now morphed into something different. Off the fist few draws I got a fruity taste. Then the taste was lightly sweet like chocolate, on the second third it taste like a chocolate bar with bits of gingerbread cookie in it. Also got hints of coconut , and clove. Very enjoyable, very strong. I’m glad I got them. I’m glad I know H. Upmann doesn’t mess around with strength. I can tell this one of those cigars that needed time. Thanks! Happy New year!
JohnS Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 The H.Upmann Petit Coronas was among many sub-46 ring gauge cigars that got deleted post-2000 because it required a lengthy period of time to develop, in my view. When young, yes they had strength but long-term they could develop in a beautiful cream and shortbread delight. I have 1 stick left of a LUB 14 code and only now, in its eighth year, is it approaching the creamy texture I'm seeking. I have some other boxes with 15/16 codes that I've not opened yet and don't intend to for a little while yet.
SCgarman Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 While it was never a "pepper bomb" as most Cuban cigars are not, young they were very full flavored. With a few years, typical Upmann cuban earth, coffee, and that wonderful shortbread cookie note. One of my favorite PC's. I have most of one box left. Did not have the disposable income to "hoard" them once they were announced discontinued. Wish I had about 10 boxes. Oh well, life goes on......
