Popular Post El Presidente Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 I certainly got plenty of action....just not from the car. I came across this old add yesterday. My first car, the Datsun 1000. My passenger seat was broken so I removed it and drove most of the time sitting in a green bean bag. .....Speedy it was not 6
Popular Post HarveyBoulevard Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 No idea what my old man was thinking. This was my first car when I graduated high school. My kids will be buying their own. I will probably go 50/50 with them and they can pay their own insurance on their own policy. It did get sold the second time I failed out of college 🙂 8

As the ad says, they are uniquely versatile. Mine: 1987 Nissan Sentra 2 door in Blue Mist. Bare bones, no a/c, power steering or power anything for that matter. Actually was a great car. I believe it had around 170K miles when I got it. No oil cap so I just stuffed a rag in the top of the engine. Worked fine. First car I bought with 100% my own money was a 1985 Honda Prelude. Absolutely fantastic car. Ran like a top with 230K miles. 8
Popular Post Cigar Surgeon Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 Gutless, terrible climate controls, but I loved her all the same. (pic of the model, but not my pic) 7
Popular Post Islandboy Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 Wish I could say it was the Barracuda in the back. It was a 1964 Plymouth Valiant, purchased from my high school principal. The slant six motor was stunningly indestructible, perfect for a high school kid. 8
Popular Post Chibearsv Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 Mine was a beaut. The one below is very similar. My father owned a VW dealership and he got me a 69 Beetle off the used car lot as a 16th birthday present that I was allowed to "use". It had a rusted hole in the floor under the clutch where you could see the pavement going by. It was like a season magnifier. If it was cold outside, it was colder in that car. If it was hot outside, it was hotter in that car. 10 1
Popular Post fisherclive Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 1978 chevy caprice classic (similar to the picture) Bought it for $50 in 1990 from a manager at my job. He was going to junk it because it wouldn't start. Got it home and fixed it that weekend, it had a plugged catalytic converter and a bad ground. Cut the cat out and put in a straight pipe. Eventually had to rebuild the transmission and engine, but the car was easy to work on. The car stayed in my family for 8 years after I bought another car. 9
Popular Post SpecialK Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 Drove my Dad's 77 toyota Corolla station wagon until I totaled it at 18.... Then he helped me with the note (co-signed) to buy one of these a 77 Toyota Celica.. ended up trading it in on a a Isuzu Pickup...... This isn't the Car but it could be.. same color. dead ringer for it.. 9
Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 '66 Plymouth Fury III. 383 8 cylinder with a 4 barrel carb. Could take the late '70's Corvette off the line to 80 mph. 10
Popular Post LLC Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 Bought my first car (Chevy Nova) from my mom. It was a good one. My more recent cars have been a lot better. Picture of a picture with poor lighting but here it is. 7

LLC Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 I changed those, put in a sunroof, changed the stereo and did something to the leaf springs to raise the back a bit. Shortly after doing all that, ended up in court for a significant speeding ticket and lost my license for a while. Oh yo be 16 again 😂 2
Popular Post BlueClaw Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 My first car..1969.. not my actual car... but do have a photo somewhere my 2nd car 14 months later.. sold the Z28.. couldn't afford the gas... Knowing what I know now, I should have kept it.. 7

Popular Post BoliDan Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 1985 Mercury Topaz. The dashboard would shake if I got this puppy over 65.Brakes failed and I ended up crashing it in to medium on purpose to avoid t-boning a truck at an intersection. 6 1
Popular Post mprach024 Posted September 28, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2022 88 Dodge Daytona. Was my dads car he’d had for 7 years. Worked great for about 9 months until I blew the engine. Something about “needed oil, it’s bone dry.” You know you can’t really trust mechanics. 5 1

An E36 M3 was my first car I had a choice in. Got it at 18 when my hand-me-down e-class mechanically totaled itself. Drove the e36 for 7 years and put a ton of miles on it. Picture of my old car below. The 91' Mercedes 300E was a fantastic car. It was a hand-me-down from my father. He drove it for years before passing it on to me. I find myself missing it frequently. It's just a shame, it was one of the early 4matic models and the 4matic system needed constant expensive repairs. So, after the second or third time of it needing repairs that exceeded the value of the vehicle, we sold it to a scrap yard. Picture of similar car below, mine was a dark grey though. 4

Popular Post Fuzz Posted September 28, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2022 My first car was a hand me down from my brother, a 1992 Daihatsu Applause Xi. Don't think I have any pictures of it, at least none that I can remember. That car definitely got a workout. My old man had a clothing business, and I remember doing delivery runs with this car inbetween uni classes, loading up 6'-8' long rolls of fabric in the boot (all the way to the front passenger seat), RNS nurse uniforms in the back, school uniforms, etc. Weighed down the car, but it managed to handle it. Then there were late nights in the Westfields parking lot after a late night session at Intencity, driving inbetween the concrete pillars at 60kph. Burned out the clutch twice, went through at least 4 sets of tyres, but we sure had fun. 5
Popular Post Pharmacovigilant Posted September 28, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2022 1974 Chevy Vega like the one pictured here. It had a die-cast aluminum alloy engine block which lasted 50,000 miles, if you were lucky. But I learned how to drive stick on it, and I learned how to change a clutch. Priceless. 8
Popular Post Corylax18 Posted September 28, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2022 I still regret selling the 1992 Grand Cherokee pictured below, in all the glory that 185,000 miles brought to it. I loved that thing, there wasn't a snow storm it couldn't get through. Super easy to work on, and astoundingly reliable. Just a prefect first car. I needed the Extra $$ for the down payment on my baby, the 2010 f150 in the second picture, I will own it until someone inherits it from me. 7

Reminds me of the second car I ever bought with my own money: 1988 Plymouth Sundance. I actually really liked this car. Very reliable. The only issue I ever had with it was the adjustable steering column collapsed. I guess this was a known problem with those GM columns. Happened to the Jeep wagons all the time. I even had a timing belt break and it survived with no damage! Had a peppy little 2.2 turbo that was actually pretty quick. Unfortunately I rear ended a Cadillac El Dorado with it. 5 hours ago, BoliDan said: Mercury Topaz As a mechanic friend once said to me, you can never really fix a Topaz. 2 4
El Hoze Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 Not my actual car but same exact one. 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic. Always loved these growing up (those Black/Gold Limiteds were like the coolest thing ever to me). Got it near the end of college and kept it until I was 6-7 years out of college. I beat the heck out of it, put 100K+ miles on it, rolled it on its side twice being an idiot (luckily on sand), surf fished all up and down the east coast and drove it cross country probably 8 times. When I traded it in I think I got like $800 for it. Should have kept it but I was living in NYC so parking space was limited. 3
SRH1 Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 1972 Peugeot 504 Sedan similar to the one shown above. Four speed standard transmission ‘on the column’…. Had gray interior and sunroof. Added an 8 track cassette player and a serious set of speakers. To this day I believe that car had the most comfortable seats I’ve ever sat in. Oh, the fun I had in that car….and yes, in western PA, I was the only kid on the block with a Peugeot….. Only had it for about a year…the sunroof blew off while driving on a 2 lane highway and the clutch failed shortly thereafter with <20k miles. 4
