I've never seen the agents leafing through the stamps section in my passport to determine where I've been previously...but I don't travel internationally more than once a year. I find it hard to comprehend that simply replacing your passport book clears your travel record. Heading back to Canada today from the UK and I just noticed that they didn't bother to stamp our passports this time (Canada has smart/biometric passports now and you can more or less walk through). So at least between North America and Western Europe, things aren't archaic anymore. 4
