El Presidente Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 As requested We will run through the global marcas over the next week but let's start with Montecristo. Pick your three favourites Three only. Feel free to discuss
cnov Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I'm certainly not the most experienced smoker and there are still quite a few on this small list that I still need to sample, but I have been blown away by the couple of Dumas that I have smoked. There are plenty of cigars that Ive enjoyed immensely, but the two Dumas really hammered home just how great cigars can be, even living upto the lofty expectations that a swanky velvet pouch and trio of bands could elevate. The sort of cigar that makes you get up at 01:30 just to see if they'll show on 24:24. 2
Popular Post Chas.Alpha Posted September 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 16, 2022 I did not see the Open line represented in this poll. Did I miss something?...🤔 8

Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted September 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 16, 2022 Last 5 years, Double Edmundo hands down. Monte 5 is probably second place based on how many I smoke. 6
RDB Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I voted #1, #2, Esp.2. However, the price differential between the Esp.2 and the #4 is now ridiculous for such similar sized cigars, so realistically I’ll always buy those instead. 1
Chibearsv Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Monte No. 1 gets the top of list for me followed by No. 3 and a tie between No. 2 and Edmundo. Never had the Especiales 2. 1
Silverstix Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Esp. #2 is the bees knees for me. Also love a classic #4 and the #3 (corona vitola is my fav) 3
Popular Post Doctorossi Posted September 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 16, 2022 Those silly souls among us who profess a preference for the Especiales #2 over and above the Especiales are simply missing out on several exceptional centimeters of deliciousness. 6
cnov Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I thought Especiales were just a myth! Never seen one out in the wild.
Fugu Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Personally, not that big on Monte. Favourite, in the sense of making its appearance in the rotation, for me would be: No. 5 Espie 2 No. 4 No. 3 The Piramides, the Cervantes and the Laguito1 on occasion. With the Especial and Especiales No.2, I clearly prefer those Monte formats weakest in the choc department and with a wider array of flavours. Also a big, big fan of the No.4 Reserva, which is pretty far from the regular No.4 in its delish flavour profile and complexity. Don’t generally smoke any of the Edmundos (apart from gifteds and freebies). Well, a confessed Joyitas smoker here. 😅 3
joeypots Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Esp#2 DE #1 I’ll add #3 and the #2. I love MC. When they are on they are hard to beat. 1
MrBirdman Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I love Montecristo very much - Monte 4 gave my my first “whoa” moment in cigars. And while it comprises only ~15% of my stash, it’s about 40% of what I actually smoke. The profile is one I can enjoy almost any time or place, a variety of sizes/durations to choose from, and plenty of the narrower ring gauges I prefer. As I’ve discussed with others here, Monte has a reputation of greater inconsistency, though recent production has made blind buying less of a hazard than it once was. My #1 is easy: Especial. Elegant, refined, and pure Monte flavor, it’s the marca’s one entry in the pantheon of truly great Cuban cigars, in the same league as Winnies, Fundis, etc. #2 - Especiales No. 2 - I smoke at least 5 of these to every Especial, and love them almost as much for their intense distillation of Monte. #3 - This was hard, but I went with the Maltes. I regret leaving out the 1/3/4 which are most of what I smoke. And an honorable mention to the the double Edmundo. 3
Bijan Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Especiales, no. 1 and no. 3. Edit: I also like especiales no. 2, no. 2 and no. 4 but they're not as consistent. I also like the Edmundos and double Edmundos but prefer the other vitolas. 2
Cigarsmoker81 Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I find it interesting that as much as Monty no 2 gets hate it’s the highest ranked Monty. That probably shows you that we all love the chase of that amazing experience when the cigar is just “on” 2
Ford2112 Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I went 1,4,2 regular production in that order. Monte is something I just crave once in a while. The last Monte 1 I smoked was a 94 pointer. 2
Tdm_86 Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 For me it’s Double Edmundo, Esp. No. 2 and the trusty No. 4. In that order. 2
sw15825 Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Am I one of the only ones that could never get the #2 ? I would take any of the other brands #2's first. I mean, I have smoked a few very good ones. Maybe it's just not for me. 1, 3 and all of the Edmundos work for me. #4 has made a great comeback over the last 6 or 7 years too imo. 1
SMELTZ Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 #1 Monte No. 2 and smoked most with friends around. #2 Especiales No. 2 is just a flavor bomb and I have at least one every week. #3 Especiales when they are not plugged. Haven't had too many Edmundos or D Edmundos. 1
BrightonCorgi Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 I am sucker for the Monte A. Such an event. So much bravado. 2

One of the few CCs I've never had. Although I've never had a Joyitas either... 9 hours ago, sw15825 said: Am I one of the only ones that could never get the #2 ? Never had one that I thought was good enough to buy another. And probably every one I've ever had tasted different. To me, Double Edmundos are everything I imagine people think about Monte 2. And I like the vitola better.
