Adisaputra Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Currently I have enough cigars in my walk in humidor, yet I’m having difficulties to break and smoke them. I only enjoy small rotations of my singles, and keep most of my collection sitting gracefully in the shelves 😅. I somehow get anxious when looking at non-full box, so I keep them intact while telling my self that I’m currently aging them, so no problem at all. I know that we should test them periodically to see how they progress, but again, knowing one of my box is no longer a full box really bothers me, mentally. I’m curious to know, is there anyone like me out there? Or I’m the only one with this issue? 3
Popular Post mprach024 Posted September 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 6, 2022 Do you mean are you the only one with OCD and hoarding like tendencies? No, I don’t think you are. The most difficult cigar to smoke, especially anything nicer than your staples, is the first one from any box. 7 1
Popular Post benfica_77 Posted September 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 6, 2022 I had the similar issue of not wanting to break open new boxes. For 3 years i only smoke singles and accumulated boxes. I finally this year broke open boxes and that initial anxiety you felt goes away. I only feel guilty now cracking cohiba boxes purely because of how much I know they go for. I'm fairly young but i'm become very aware life short. We don't know when our day to check out is coming, we need to find balance between preparing for the future/saving and enjoying and being in the moment. Cigars are to be smoked and enjoyed so enjoy your inventory. You can always buy more. 6 1

Popular Post Bijan Posted September 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 6, 2022 This is why I always smoke one cigar from each incoming box ROTT (unless I already have a box of that vitola). Otherwise yeah... 5
Cairo Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I have the opposite problem--when I have a great box of amazing smokes and I am down to the bottom layer I start to get the jitters. 😀 4
Cigar-Therapy Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I know the feeling- I have it more if a box is under 18-24 months. Also if I’m expected to share. Broke open my first box of Punch DC with a few guys- May 20 date… 1/5 or 20% gone on the first smoke. I’m beginning to shy away from sharing- 4
SMELTZ Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I am in the camp of living today like it’s your last. Yes, I have half my collection aging, but I will not hesitate to break a box open to enjoy. Living life in the moment is so much more enjoyable then what might be…in the future. 3 1
btort910 Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I'm the opposite... at my age I'm afraid I will just be leaving a bunch of unopened boxes for my son.😜 2 1
jakebarnes Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I have a red/yellow/green system. Red is the "age until x" group, yellow is "six month revisits" and green is "these are smoking like fire now." A lot of my boxes are duplicative so I can do this. Helps with the getting through things while balancing with an age premium. 2 1
TBird55 Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 The current supply issues doesn't help the situation at all. I am pretty much in the same boat. Once I can break a box, then they are fair game, but there is something about taking the first cigar. 2

Since this last price increase I’ve started giving people the link to FOH instead. 4 7
Popular Post Adisaputra Posted September 19, 2022 Author Popular Post Posted September 19, 2022 Finally decided and managed to break my stashes. Partagas short 50 cab ASR JUN 2018, Punch 48 LGR DIC 2019 and LGR MdO4 from 2013. Took one from each box, closed my walk in humidor, didn’t look back. Smoked them and they were beautiful except for the Punch 48, still need a few years to rest (trying to make excuses so I didn’t steal it again). 5
Popular Post BoliDan Posted September 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 19, 2022 I'm terrible at anything sentimental. All my boxes are missing sticks. 4 boxes of CoRos. All with different amounts. Reckless Abandon! 6
