Popular Post jakebarnes Posted May 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 16, 2022 Got these a few months ago from a 2424 3-pk deal. One of them had a bit of foot damage, so I made it the sacrificial lamb as a reward for doing all my adulting activities for the day. Other than the little bit of damage, the cigar was beautifully constructed with a medium colorado wrapper and an absolutely beautiful sheen and smoothness to it. They really nailed it with the appearance here--guess you have to for when this "luxury product" will have a certain price tag going forward. First Third: I know that Cohibas benefit from age to really hone the flavors. I had a little skepticism on what I was in for given that the cigar really only had about a year of age (in theory, as it came from a cardboard 3 pack) but figured what better time than now. I was glad I chose this cigar. Upon lighting, I was immediately hit with rich honey and a slight hay/grass across my palate. Draw had a slight firmness, but I enjoy a little feedback and feel like it helps the cigar from burning through too fast. Had to touch up where the foot damage was, but that was only minor. Towards the end of this third a little bit of cream creeped in. What an absolutely decadent flavor profile. Second Third: Picked up into more medium here and added a bit of shortbread or honeyed graham cracker here. My wife was curious so she tried it at this point and determined that this was a "damn good cigar." Her preferred cigar for the rare instance that she does smoke is a SCdlH Principe due to the sweeter nature. Feel like I might have made a mistake by letting her know this profile exists. Towards the end of this third there was a bit of a nutty flavor developing. Final Third: Definitely picking up steam, but still feels medium in body. Mixing a bit more on tobacco flavor front with the hay/grass and creamy honeyed shortbread. In the final inch it started to burn a bit hot and add some bitterness so I ended there. However, the sweet honeyed flavors still hung around my palate well after the completion of the cigar. Conclusion: It's honestly been a while for me. I don't think I'd ever had a CoRo with less than 2-3 years on it. That said, this one was an absolute treat and flavor bomb of a cigar and hid its age well--I would have guess it had more age on it if handed it blindly. The only true bittersweet moment is that this is a flavor profile that I do love to chase (along with Trini) due to what I find to be a unique portfolio of flavors--and the pricing jumps are definitely going to add a level of mixed feelings to enjoying such a truly decadent cigar. Hoping I can find a few more CoRos or Sig III's to supplement my collection so I am never wanting when the craving hits for this cigar. 96/100. (apologies for gross hands--lots of soil movement and gardening today so that was where they were at) 9
