Popular Post sho671 Posted May 2, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 2, 2022 The RyJ Short Churchill is probably my go to RyJ but figured I'd try the wides. I picked up two fivers from an online retailer in early 2021 and was able to get the date but not the factory code. Compared to the Shorts, the wides are well almost too thick. The first third started with some woodsy and subtle nuttiness. About an inch in I picked up some of that cherry tartness but it was not as prominent as I've had in the Churchill of Short Churchill. I mainly picked up cedar from the second third on. The construction was good with a nice draw and prominent smoke production but the burn line was a little uneven requiring intermittent touch ups throughout. Pretty good cigar over all and not disappointed that I have nine more. 3/5 10
HawkI84 Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 I really prefer these to the Short Churchill - there's a rich mellowness to these I really enjoy, but unfortunately, I have to echo what you say about the burn. I'm not typically a big RyJ person, this is one of two vitolas of theirs I like, the other being the full Churchill. The rest have this harsh, acrid peppery-ness that makes them unenjoyable, even with the nice choclatey and cherry notes.
