Love this idea Rob and look forward to seeing more in the series. Big fan of the Epi 2s and also the Epi 1s ( hopefully a resurgence soon as I don’t have many left)

Never found Epi 1 and 2 to be particularly good. I think just about every other Hoyo delivers more. The Epi Especial is just fuller and richer and if you want the cream it's the king.

Not a Hoyo fan in general but I've always felt the Epi de Luxe and Petit Robustos were the best of the brand (yes, even over the DC) and I also have found recent Rio Seco quite enjoyable. But my favorite is the Epi de Luxe.

Was going through previous deep dives while enjoying an EPI 2. I am devouring a 50 cab that is delivering like never had experienced with this cigar before. TLE ENE 2020 - anyone else tried Epis from this code / period? Absolutely outstanding. Not sure if continuing firing them up or just let them sleep. I think around 1/3 left now in the cab. Any thoughts? Have never aged Epis to be honest and see no mentions to optimal age on the thread.

thank you!

Smoked a lot of fresh 2023 Epi 2 from LCDH during my X’mas holiday in Dubai, 5 sticks in total if I recall correctly and I was enjoying every second of it, unmistakably Cuban flavor bomb while being easy to smoke at the same time, a totally relaxing blend IMO. To me it competes with any of my best smokes and I got instantly hooked on it. Upon my return from the holiday, I immediately opened my virgin box of 15 Tubos MLS-SEP20 that has been resting for a while in my humidor, upon the first light all the reminiscence from the nice holiday rushed back to me and I was in bliss. I for one can confirm that Epi.2 is wonderful both fresh and aged, on my recent examples there was none of the typical fresh Cuban sourness/spiciness when still fresh, it’s just that the aged one definitely tasted more mature as in much more defined flavor characteristics, no discernible additional flavor difference. Of course, I managed to score two more cabs of 50s to rest and age and still hunting for more. That’s how much I like the blend.

What is the oldest one or few you've had?

My first experience with Epi 2 was with fresh sticks bought during my recent holiday in Dubai. Then, upon my return I opened my sealed Epi 2 box from 2020 that I have had resting for a while (bought it aged a couple of months ago). So 2020 is the oldest I ever smoked.

Oh ok thanks, wasn't sure if you had older. Sweet, from what I've heard these past couple years' fresh ones have been good. Thanks for more confirmation.

I can confirm that fresh one has been good for me. IMO the best of them all when comparing fresh to fresh.

Awesome I just got a cab of 25, looks like I might have to light one up. I wanna try the HDM Du Marie I've got but can't find much on them heard they need to be aged, I'm not sure.

I found it medium to medium light, a very elegant and refined smoke. Quite enjoyable.
