99call Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 I'm interested for those who carry knives on a daily basis, and that are not genuine outdoorsmen / tradesmen. What do you most use those knives for? Is it just....if I ever need one.....then I've got one. Or do you use them day in- day out. If so on what? genuinely interested
AndrewNR Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 Used to carry a knife and lighter, since entering human services they just live in my personal car. Private life sometimes I'll still have them on me. I forage, hunt, boxes, letters, fruit etc. Nothing special anymore, had some nice ones stolen so mostly just use quality stuff to purpose or cheap pocket Knives. If I was in USA don't know if I'd carry a sidearm.. find it hard to believe I'd ever be in a situation where it unnecessarily escalated things. Not about to shoot someone over anything below immediate threat of life so don't need to be waving a hand cannon around

RDB Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 I only carry a knife when camping. Then it’s a Swiss Army Soldier, which is the one with the saw and the one-hand locking blade. And ahem the bottle opener. Not fancy but it’s done amazing service.

Popular Post tuff Posted April 11, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2022 I find a pocketknife incredibly handy and feel naked without one. I only carry a lock back knife for my own safety when using. Here is my most recent one a Benchmark Bugout 535BK. Incredibly light for the size at 2.5oz. and 3.5 inch blade. Mostly used for convenience such as opening boxes or cutting cord. but have been known to cut a steak with this one. 7

I use the blade to sever caps and sometimes the punch as well. The scissors are great for trimming little bits of tobacco around the foot. The blade gets very sharp for stainless.

Been using for at least 4 months every day and still very sharp. I know it's hard steel so not looking forward to sharpening. The thing for me is the weight for the size knife. I can't stand something heavy in my pocket and this is perfect. I shopped hard for this, and for the quality they can be had reasonably! 1
Popular Post Jack Posted April 11, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2022 My idea of "roughing it" is receiving a chipped plate from room service. I've also been known to partake of the food truck scene in Los Angeles. It may be a food truck, but there's no reason to behave like animals and use plastic utensils! ...and because everyone always asks: The fork, when fully open, unlocks the two sides. 7 2

Other stones are cheaper and a lot slower. 500, 1 or 2k and a 4k. Your set. 👍

Lfhard Posted April 12, 2022 Author Posted April 12, 2022 I see a few of benchmade blades. Must be the a favorite around here. I might need to check them out. Looks like I know what brand I’ll have to check out next.

NicPac that is one of the most beautiful knives I have ever seen. I would be very proud of the workmanship and elegance of that design and story behind it. 2
Popular Post chu2 Posted April 13, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 13, 2022 My everyday carry pocket gear is pretty basic, but has proven to be pretty indestructible and reliable over the past five years. Case Sodbuster Jr CV, brass Zippo with a Thunderbird insert, and a Fisher pen. Great for when I’m in the wilderness, and handy around the house on the daily too. I love how easily the CV Case knives sharpen. Either a basic Seiko 705 or Garmin Instinct on the wrist, too-reliable, simple to use, not too expensive or irreplaceable, and hard to break. I feel naked without it! 8
Lfhard Posted April 13, 2022 Author Posted April 13, 2022 @chu2 your brass lighter has some nice patina on it.
Popular Post BlueRidgeFly Posted April 15, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 15, 2022 Fancy shmancy powdered steel version of the Spyderco Delica. Didn't realize how dirty it was until I took the photo 😀 Love this knife, always with me. Have had it for several years now. Light, small, holds a sharp edge real well. Still have my old Spyderco Delica with the crappy plastic clip from the early '90s in my fishing pack. 6
Lfhard Posted April 15, 2022 Author Posted April 15, 2022 I like spiderco some of my other knives are from them as well. I also like to support them since they are from my state 😁. Gotta support the local business. 2
Popular Post HarveyBoulevard Posted April 15, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 15, 2022 I love a good pocket dump / edc review. First, let’s get the man purse out of the way. It’s a Nutsac Mag Satch 11or 13 (I can't remember). A waxed canvas bag with leather bottom. Check out their stuff if you are in to that sort of thing. www.nutsac.com Here is what is in it… almost… 5
Lfhard Posted April 16, 2022 Author Posted April 16, 2022 @HarveyBoulevard at first I thought it was a joke about your bag being called a nutsack had me cracking up then I saw it really was a nutsack. I love those ridge wallets I have like 3 of them and have never had to change the band. Very durable they sell some good stuff I have one of their keychains that hold all the keys together you should check it out. 1
