MoeFOH Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 MoeFOH's Movie of the Week 🎥 Each week we're going to spotlight a movie... be it a classic, new release, hidden gem, or outright turd... and open it for discussion: i.e. post up your favourite quotes, clips, memories... or dive deeper and give us a critique on why you think it's great, overrated, or a complete train wreck... And finally score it for us...  All contributors go into a monthly prize draw for a 3-cigar sampler! PM me with suggestions if there's a movie you want to nominate for next week's discussion.  Week #4: Jeremiah Johnson. This week, we're looking at the 1972 film Jeremiah Johnson, which is directed by Sydney Pollack and stars Robert Redford. I've not seen this one, so I'm borrowing from Wikipedia here in saying "the film is based partly on the life of the legendary mountain man John Jeremiah Johnson, recounted in Raymond Thorp and Robert Bunker's book Crow Killer: The Saga of Liver-Eating Johnson and Vardis Fisher's novel Mountain Man."  This film was recommended to me by @Ford2112 - Cheers! Looking forward to this one. I'm quickly racking up a queue of films to take on... It's fast becoming clear I don't possess the viewing history I thought I did. Anyhow... Over to you... Have you seen it? Do you rate it? Why or why not? Best moments?... etc, and so on... post 'em up!! If you've seen it, give us your score out of 10! 1
bassistheplace Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Top 10. Just a shade below Outlaw Josey Wales. My fave role of Redford
Ford2112 Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 For a film with so little dialog this one delivers on all fronts. It's a tale of survival and triumph, coupled with tragedy and the realities of a man who left society to become a mountain man. Based on the true story(legend) of Liver Eatin Johnson,Redford gives a great performance it this. The cast is great. The cinematography is outstanding(much of the scenes were shot on land Redford owned) ,the fight scenes realistic and Will Geer as Bearclaw is especially memorable. Between this and the Natural,Robert Redford is in 2 of my favorite movies. 10/10 2
