KCCubano Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 See if Phillies can hit a WS record 6 HRs. That one by Schwarber was CRUSHED!! 1
rolaand Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 I feel like there have been a disproportionate number of home runs this post season. 1
JohnS Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Well, it seems that Lance McCullers couldn't quite execute the off-speed pitches that were so effective from Framber Valdez in Game 2. Five home runs...wow! Bring on Game 4!

Glove placement on fastballs and curve totally different. 1

Judging by how different the Phillies were offensively in Game 3 in comparison to Game 2, this would make sense.
KCCubano Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Phillies certainly werent getting tipped on pitches tonight 1
JohnS Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Just the second no-hitter in World Series history (the first was Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series), so no Houston's pitches were definitely not 'tipped'! Now onto Game 5. Gentlemen, will Justin Verlander get his first win in a World Series Game? Will he manage to diminish his 6.07 ERA in World Series Games? Will Noah Syndergaard pitch more than 4 innings? 2
Ford2112 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 It comes down to pitching. I still have Astros in 6 but its been a see saw battle. 1
rolaand Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Syndergaard looks completely different than in the first half of the season 1
Ford2112 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Verlander is dealing right now. Don't feel bad for his 6.00 era . He has a good wife I mean life! 1 1
KCCubano Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Phillies have certainly had their chances. Yes his wife makes for some fine eye candy! 3
JohnS Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 What can one say about Game 5? In a nutshell, it's not that the Phillies didn't play well (they had their opportunities with runners in scoring position), it's just that the Astros defense was 'stellar'! (And the pun is intended!) 2 1
Namisgr11 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 It was a great game. The Phils just couldn't get the clutch hits they needed, and McCormick's ninth inning catch while crashing into the fence in right center probably saved the game for the Astros. It's unlikely the Phils will win two straight in Houston, but I'm proud of what this club was able to achieve and happy they've found a quality manager during the season who's the winner to take them forward. And just maybe they can take it to a game 7. 2
KCCubano Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Not liking Phillies chances to win 2 straight in Houston but the Nationals did it a few years ago. It can happen. 1

I concur completely. However, something deep inside tells me that hubris is unlikely to strike twice in three years.
KCCubano Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Interesting tonight as Schwarber is Phillies best sinker ball hitter but has not fared well against lefties like Valdez. Hoskins based on metrics is probably their best bet. Harper has not hit left hander sinker pitchers well in his career. I see only hope is to some how manufacture a few early runs against Valdez. Won't be easy! 1
Ford2112 Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Astros bullpen will make the difference in this game I think. 1

KCCubano Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 I wonder if the Cuban born Yordan Alvarez will celebrate his 3 run homer and victory with a Cuban Cigar. 2
JohnS Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 In the end, Houston was too good overall. Honestly, I think it was a simple as that. Philadelphia had a great run in the postseason but lacked the key players (and moments) to get more wins. 3
Ford2112 Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Pretty good series. Houston just had that little extra. I thought Philly had momentum there but they couldn't match up against superior pitching. 3
KCCubano Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Wanted Phillies in the end but nice to see Dusty get a WS title as manager. Still wish it had gone 7 but would have interrupted my Chiefs game tonight against Titans. 1
LLC Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Not really a Houston fan but I am happy for Dusty. Overall good postseason. Can’t wait for spring training. 4
Ford2112 Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Did y'all see Manfred getting booed again? I thought Bud Selig was bad. 1
