Chas.Alpha Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Did a couple of zooms with Mike, we had tentatively planned to meet at a lounge up here in Jax next time he was up. The assumption was that we would buy one of their (cheap) smokes, then burn ours! Very sad to hear... 3
Popular Post JohnS Posted March 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 16, 2022 Sadly, despite visiting the United States a few times I never got the opportunity to meet Mike in person but I certainly got to know him well during this Covid-19 pandemic period over FoH ZOOM. We had a number of laughs, especially over our long beards grown during isolation which El Pres would often remind us of and which we would always laugh about. I used to often say over our ZOOM chats that Mike is what I will look like in 10 years to El Pres (and others) and we would all laugh. So sad to know that is all now a cherished memory. Mike was an inspirational person in being kind and gentle, so it's no wonder why we became friends and why I will miss him so much. He is a great loss for our community. (This is) So, so sad! 😥 One last thing I wanted to add, on a positive note, was that Mike wanted to join our ZOOM Champagne masterclass in November last year but an opportunity to go to the World Series came up and I told him he should go because opportunities like that don't come around that often. Atlanta won for the first time since 1995, Mike was there in person and I'm glad he went. 21 1
MoeFOH Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Very sad news. I didn't know Mike very well at all, but I had the chance to chat and laugh with him a few brief times over zoom and messages, poker... revealed him to be a lovely guy and a great character. Since I started here Mike was an ever-present and a big part of the FOH community. He'll be sorely missed. Thoughts and condolences to Kelly and family. RIP Mike. ❤️ 🙏 4 1
