El Presidente Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Habanos S.A., surprises in 2022 Havana, Mar 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuban tobacco, a symbol of tradition and identity of this island blessed with exceptional lands and climate, maintains its impetuous march in 2022, stimulated by the Habanos, S.A. corporation. March 13, 2022 CDT01:40 (GMT) -0400 Published by: Elsy Fors Garzon “We plan innovative ways to surprise fans, to introduce them to new products, to live unique and exclusive experiences for all of us who share the same passion,” Leopoldo Cintra, commercial vice president of the famous entity, told Prisma magazine. “We were working until the last moment to be able to carry out the Habano Festival. Unfortunately, due to the current context of the pandemic, we were forced to cancel the long-awaited celebration”, he stressed. In this sense, the manager expressed that, in a world scenario with so much uncertainty, the ability to adapt and proactivity of many sectors has been put to the test. “Faced with the challenge that it has posed for the company, we can say that we knew how to react in time, adapting ourselves to the current circumstances. Together with our exclusive distributors, we have activated the necessary mechanisms so as not to neglect the planned objectives”, stated Cintra. Both commercial and marketing initiatives with distributors so noteworthy, in turn have carried out totally innovative proposals through online channels, both for sales and product presentation. “Thanks to this involvement, our fans continue to enjoy the Habano universe,” he added. The commercial vice president said each year the Festival is the right occasion to officially communicate the planned launches; however, they look for the ideal way and time to publicize the novelties of 2022. “We do not want to reveal the surprises we are working on, we just want to tell our fans and Habano lovers to keep their passion ‘on’ because soon we will be surprising them”, he predicted. A SEAL OF CUBA There are four factors that make Cuban tobacco unique in the world: the soil, the climate, the variety, and the knowledge of vegueros and torcedores transmitted by generations. To reach the delightful stage of enjoying a cigar, you must go through a long path that contains more than 500 manual processes. From the cultivation of the leaf —which takes months and even years, to be able to use it to make it—, to the quality control and packaging in the boxes with all the guarantee seals. It is only recognized as an Habano when it meets the requirements established and verified by the Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). In addition to that, all have distinction measures to protect them from counterfeits and fraud. There are currently 27 brands marketed by the Habanos, S.A. corporation: Cohíba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás, Hoyo de Monterrey, H. Upmann, Trinidad, Cuaba, San Cristobal de La Habana, Bolívar and Vegueros, among others. Every year, in the month of February, the Habano Festival brings together lovers of the best tobacco in the world to Havana, the capital of Cuba. This famous party —whose 2022 edition was canceled due to the adverse global epidemiological situation imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic— includes tours of plantations and factories, seminars, the international Habanosommelier competition, a gala dinner, humidor auction and many other attractions. rckymtn22 Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 Surprise everyone, we at the HSA are looking to maximize the tobacco we have for maximum profit so will only roll Cohibas in 2022!
riderpride Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 They'll surprise me when they manage to keep up with demand for the current catalog and delay new releases until 'regular' production items become regular. Cheers 2
LordAnubis Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 The suprise is either that theres no Cuban cigars anymore and all operations are shutting down, or that all habanos are now to be made with nica tobacco in china. 😂 Also, im impressed their fingers could summon the audacity to type the words "Quality control" 😁 3

Sent by spooky action at a distance
BrightonCorgi Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 I would rather see 1/10th the production with Habanos worthy cigars, than trying to do all things with a sub-standard product. It's very difficult to win back consumers when the perception is you are now selling a sub-standard product. 2

In all fairness to HSA on this point, they made the right call cancelling it. Covid aside, I don't see anyway they could have pulled it off in the last couple months. Even to their already low standards. I agree on the rest though, pure hyperbole.

A big festival with no products to fulfill the spectacle or its post-success would be a poor use of limited funds. 3

I completely agree. I was speaking more to the capability of the country/Havana to support the festival itself. It would be a poor use of limited funds for HSA and an even poorer use of the countries resources to support it. I was recently served fake sweetener from Spain, in Cuba. They don't have the basic necessities right now, so something frivolous like this should be on the back burner even if they had the cigars. 3
