Ken Gargett Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 just heard the very sad news that Rod Marsh has passed away. one of Australia's great keepers. suffered a bad heart attack a week or so ago and never recovered. most famous for his combination with the greatest fast bowler, dennis lillee. as a kid, he was the keeper i watched. legendary stuff. met him once (actually twice - first time as a kid when i used to caddy for test cricketers on the rest day and he was in the group when i caddied for doug walters). this was a group of players famous for being the best side in the world at the time but for playing seriously hard off the field. different era. second time was a few years ago when he and lillee attended a couple of days tastings at yalumba. got to spend a lot of time with both of them. just a terrific bloke. could not have been nicer. such a sad loss. RIP. 1 1

The first wicket-keeper to hit a test century for Australia, he was a big part of my childhood growing, especially during the Packer World Series years. He will be missed! 1
