Doublesh0t Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Obviously both winners here but I have a question. Often times I see “so and so “NEEDS” this amount of time or “MUST HAVE” in order for these nuances to show themselves. For friends that have smoked both, what’s your call here? Is there one that is a clear winner? Petit Corona (PC) 42x5 and the Galanes is 52x4.75 At some point FOH will reveal more of the PLMC (Por Larranaga Montecarlos) at which point I will lose all motor skills when I'm finally smoking one and enjoying my espresso along side. Cheers FOH, any input helps a guy like me🤙🏼 3
Nevrknow Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 My PLMC's and my Petite Coronas are my go to's. Have not had a Galanes but damn I want one. 4
Meesterjojo Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I've got a few boxes of Montecarlo from 2019. I threw them into my big humidor back in March of last year and they've turned out fantastic. What I can not discern is if the change is due to change in humidor or aging. A little of both? But I'm very pleased with them. Not much help, sorry. I do wish I could find more but everywhere is out. 2

That reminds me I have not tried a Montecarlo in a while will have to smoke one from my box from 2020. 1
Troels Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 They’re all good. Smoking rott the galanes have worked out the best. have never had a chance to age galanes, but i expect them to age well
El Presidente Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Galanes would be my choice ROTT. Have had mostly very good experiences. 4

Chibearsv Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 For me: Haven't had Gallanes but PLPC definitely needs time down. My 2018 PLPC are just starting to develop sweetness and flavor beyond bitter. PLMC though are really tasty with just a year on them. 3
bishop532 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I also haven’t had the galanes yet, but I’m happy to smoke PLPCs and PLMCs both young and aged. The MCs seem to age more quickly, and start developing more sweetness after a year or two. 2
Juliano88 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 I feel like the PLMC’s start to shine with about two years of rest. I tend to find young ones are good until the second half where you get some bitterness. Few years of rest and they become a caramel delight. PLPC’s I like with about 4-5 years on them.
RDB Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Big fan of PC and MC here, not had the Galanes. One thing I’ve noticed about Montecarlos is huge variation in flavours between boxes, correlated with wrapper colour. Lighter wrappers seem to smoke well young and be less intense. Darker need some more time but more rewarding. Neither need as much time as PLPC. 3

Often times I see posts “you HAVE to give these 5-8 years”. I’m here to play now. But it won’t hurt to start ordering two of the same box and let time do it’s thing. 2
anacostiakat Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 Montecarlos as my wife's fav cigar. The production of them has been horrendous. 2
