tjkoala Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 What the hell am I signing myself up for? I’m getting married next month and will be heading to Thailand for the honeymoon. We’ll be spending 8 days in Phuket and 4 more in Bangkok! Would love to hear any recommendations for cigar lounges, bars, restaurants, or other must do activities from the FOH community. 1

Ford2112 Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Well,Thailand has some,ahem interesting nightlife. 2
Troels Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Congrats on the wedding. Phuket sounds like a wonderfull place to enjoy your honey moon. Cant recommend anything specific though, was too busy enjoying the beach and the local food when I was there, to really go anywhere 1
Shrimpchips Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Eat all the street foods! Cheap and delicious, and an adventure every time. I only didn’t enjoy one food from a night market, which was a grilled something wrapped in a banana leaf, that was kind of creamy but definitely animal protein mixed with spices and a few tiny bone fragments. A few years later watching Bourdain in Thailand, I learned that it was probably pig brains. But besides that everything was awesome… 1

Incredible food and drink. Superb location by the river makes it my absolute favorite spot in Bangkok for an after meal cigar with a large scotch. If possible go, you will not be disappointed . In Phuket the Sunday brunch at the twin palms hotel, Surin Beach, is also another absolute cracker. Worth it just for the Bloody Mary station. 1 1
Rhinoww Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Let me second the Mandarin Oriental. Been quite a few years since I stayed there but it was other worldly. Beautiful views and service was incredible. A great place for a honeymoon for calm after running around Bangkok. Edit to ask Rob’s question though. Much more of a bachelor party kinda place ….. 1
cnov Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Street food stalls get another vote here, was a bit put off at first but we had some of the most stunning dishes off of the most dubious looking places. 1
Popular Post Kaptain Karl Posted February 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted February 18, 2022 Congrats man!!! I’m leaving tonight on my honeymoon to Fiji, so hopefully I’ll be encountering a few less strippers with surprises under their belts than you will 😂 5 4

Yeah, originally we had Bali booked but that fell through with quarantine requirements. I suggested Phuket as an alternative and she was the one that wanted to do a couple day detour to Bangkok to check out the shopping and food scene. Either way, we're excited and saw that PCC has a bunch of shops in Bangkok. 9 hours ago, Webbo said: In Bangkok the Sunday Brunch at the Mandarin Oriental is just sublime. Incredible food and drink. Certainly will surprise her with a brunch in the morning there one day! 1
rcarlson Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 I'm probably in the minority here in saying that I ain't a fan of the Mandarin. Worth checking out, a lot of history, but hugely overrated IMO. Although it's been a number of years, I recall a preference for the Peninsula. 1
La_Tigre Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 Be careful you don’t end up married more than once…. 🤣 2
Cello Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 Thailand is a great choice! Plenty of good stuff to do in Bangkok. Good food and cigars all over. My recommendations for cigars would be Cohiba Atmosphere and Cigarista. Plenty of other good places, but those are my top two. Cigar one is also a solid choice for drinks and cigars. If you like curry, you need to try Khoa Soi while here. It's one of my favorite foods. It's all over Chiang Mai, but not to difficult to find in Bangkok. King Power Mahanakhon is also a cool place to visit as a tourist. It's a skyscraper with a pretty cool view of Bangkok. It's pretty easy to get around town also. Either cabs or Google maps for public transportation 1

While I haven’t been to Thailand, the only Mandarin I’ve ever stayed at that wasn’t overrated was the one in Munich.
