Looks like the safety lockout is on.  I think you need to hold down the key “button” for a few seconds. Then it should work.

Yep, that is correct. Press and hold, the cooktop should beep and the lock light will turn off. Press and hold again to re-lock.

We put in an induction we when remodeled our kitchen a year and a half ago. Overall I'm not completely sold. From a pure cooking experience, its plainly inferior to gas. The heating doesn't appear uniform across the elements. It's not as adjustable as gas. The head doesn't conform to the surface of the pan - for example if you're scrambling eggs, the edges where the egg comes up the side of the pan will not set as quickly or in the way you expect if you're accustomed to gas. The main benefits are other quality of life improvements like ease of cleaning, lack of a hot surface, it not heating up the kitchen.

thanks guys. seems i got the kiddies' light off. i swear i tried this once before but perhaps you had to do it twice???

and it looks like it will work with my main pans. currently boiling water as a test.

all very much appreciated. except rob who did nothing but be predictable.

have i got a long list of problems for you lot!!

I put in an Asko HI1994 cooktop when I re-built my kitchen. Bloody expensive at $3.5k, but it is really good. Had to replace a bunch of pots and pans (well, not really, but I had a new kitchen!) and also picked up 2 Asko cooking plates (one grill and one teppanyaki). I really like the bridging feature as I can have a dual cook zone.

I find it is much easier to dial in the temps than with my old gas cooktop, easier to keep clean, get an even heat across the entire pot/pan, and far safer than my old gasser. I still have a gas cooktop in my outdoor kitchen if I need to do some high temp wok cooking, though.

Induction is the best. almost as fast as gas, much easier to clean and once you remove the pot, it will turn off after little while - so no risk of fire or burning yourself because you forgot it was on.

if we can take the usual derogatory remarks from rob as read (and you are no technical whizz yourself), i have moved into the new place. it has an induction cooktop - some years ago, tetsuya gave me a demo of his in his restaurant and needless to say, he could make it do magic.i cannot even get this useless heap of crap to work.

i have included a couple of photos. it is made by Euro Kera. yes, i did contact them and we have a leading contender for the chocolate teapot award for the year. we just make the components, we don't assemble them or basically have a clue.

anyone have any clue? the light is permanently on and i tap the various things. but zero. nothing. i put a pot on them as i was told. still zero.

next question, what do people think of them?

anyway, this is the useless thing.

It is locked.  You have to hold your finger on the key to unlock.

My last apartment had an induction range and I hated it. Look at high quality cookware/cast iron and often was not induction compatible. Then there was the cleaning if anything got scorched. Had to have a specified induction range cleaner as to not damage the glass and was sometimes a slow process to get spotless. When I built the house I am in now I made sure to get a gas range. I'll never go back to electric or induction.

oh pot kettle.

i have seen you sit at the bottom of a dinghy for three hours trying to work out how to get your line back around the reel. not to mention trying to dry a remote control you dropped in a bucket of water. and how many hours of my life were spent on my deck watching you trying to work out how to get batteries into the camera!

very kind. and to be fair, it would be hard to argue against your second point.

i'd hardly be likely to be this fat if what i cooked was rubbish.

sometimes i have to make it easy for him.

thanks. will give that a go.

ah, the manual. yes, that would help. they left me manuals for all manner of things. three to turn the air-con on and off. manuals for things i didn't even know i had. but the evil bastard left no manual for this.

Many products these days come with very few instructions. I would imagine you could google the model etc and download the manual. Or once find manual just find section on wont come on while child locks are engaged
