Popular Post bishop532 Posted January 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2022 Its 5 F / -15 C. I debated smoking a shorty tonight, but instead I went for a Warped Maestro del Tiempo - a lonsdale. I usually like Warped Cigars. I find them to be fairly well constructed, cool burning, and they generally have some very interesting flavors. The wrapper was what I'd call Colorado, I suppose. A nice medium brown. Not too strong of an aroma off the foot - a bit earthy. The cold draw was light, cedary, and floral. When I lit it up, I got a nice floral and fruity punch in the teeth. Nice and sweet, maybe a stonefruit and/or nectar flavor. Honey and cedar on the retro. Really tasty cigar. The second third brought the honey to the fore briefly before transitioning to a more vegetal flavor with notes of tea. About halfway through, black tea transitioned to green tea, and a note of cedar appeared. The construction on the cigar was great through the first 2/3, and the draw was pretty good - though a little tighter than I like. The final third opened with a bit of cardamom and some white pepper. The draw was loosening up, but the construction of the cigar seemed to develop issues and it swung too far in the other direction. I noticed a hole beginning to develop in the middle of the cherry, and bits of the wrapper were starting to peel as it heated up. I slowed down my pace to a puff every 90 seconds or so, but then the cigar went out. I relit it, but I was fighting a losing battle and it was too cold to stay in it. I put it down with the burn line about an inch from the wrapper. It was a disappointing end to a cigar that had started out really strong. Total Smoking Time - 57 minutes Score: 88/100* * In the middle of the second third, I would have rated this cigar a 93, easily. Unfortunately, it just fell apart at the end. That said, this is not the first Maestro del Tiempo I've smoked, and they tend to be very enjoyable cigars. I'm sure the weather didn't help, and I didn't give it much humidor time before smoking it. All to say, I won't hold this one against them much if at all. The first third by itself was worth the price of admission. 11
GVan Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 Glad to hear that you really enjoyed the first two-thirds. I bought two boxes and put them away for a nap. After reading your review, I think I'll let them sit for a while and hopefully the last third will come around. Thanks! 1
