Popular Post saltbox Posted January 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2022 One of my first boxes of CCs ever purchased from FOH, and one I've barely touched as this is the second cigar out of the box. The first sample was okay but clearly needed more rest and possibly more age. First third: sugarcane grassy sweetness over some cedar and nuttiness, with a touch of orange peel. Now that I've got a bit more experience with CCs under my belt, I get the loose resemblance to the Juan Lopez profile with the orange peel note, though the rest of the Cohiba profile is lighter and more refined. The sweetness fades as a bit of tannic spice enters the mix. Middle third: the flavors become a bit more muted, but are still the base core of cedar, almonds, orange peel, and a bit of sweetness. Last third: some nutty coffee joins the flavor profile halfway through, but the flavors remain unfortunately a bit muted. Overall: entirely possible that I've overdone it with cigars in the last few days and my palate is a bit burned out, but the flavors were all just too muted to really qualify this sample as a great one. 85/100 9
Islandboy Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Good honest review. I too am having disappointing results with a couple of CoRo boxes I’ve been sitting on, patiently awaiting the magic - PUR Jul 16 and AMO Dic 16. The PUR box has tasted like absolutely nothing from day one, and still does, but I was really expecting the El Laguito box to shine. Sampled one last month and...meh...I’ll stick to the always tasty Juan Lopez #2.
Digi Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I swore off CoRo after two boxes, one from 2017 and one from 2018. For all the years I've been smoking cigars, last year was the first time I've tried a CoRo (love Espys and Lanceros) and was totally underwhelmed by the muted palate and harsh notes. Sounds like it's worth reaching for a sampler of current production to see what's up.

My 20-21 boxes have all been superb with very little rest time needed, very lemony and almost full body to me. 1
Hammer Smokin' Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I also bought one of those boxes from 24:24. I've smoked two or three from it. None have been good.

Good to know I'm not alone. I'll just have to keep checking in every 6 months and hope to see something.
Hammer Smokin' Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 After the last one I told myself "don't touch this again for another year". Did you find yours a tight draw? My first wasn't dryboxed, and it was very tight. The next two I dry boxed for a week, and they were smokable, but still tight draw.
saltbox Posted January 5, 2022 Author Posted January 5, 2022 Construction/draw hasn’t been an issue on either of mine, just muted flavors. I’ve got a recent production CoRo from the Cmas sampler I’ll probably dry box and smoke soon to see if I want to grab a 21 box. Still sitting on an LGR JUN 19 box I haven’t tried yet, maybe I’ll give one of those a crack to compare. I haven’t smoked a lot of Cohiba yet as my expectations for how well they smoke young were set by this ASR DIC 17 box.
Bijan Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 I have a GOS ENE 18 box. All but the first ROTT have been very good. Though I've only had 3 or 4 so far. 1
