Popular Post tjkoala Posted January 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 4, 2022 I took some PTO at the end of the year to spend some time hunting with my father and decided to pull out a cigar I have been sitting on for a year or so. The Padrón Black no. 100 was picked up at a local B&M for about $16 USD and at the time was an exclusive offering for the shop. The dimensions of the cigar measured out to be 5 1/2" x 52 and sporting a very dark cellophane wrapper. Prelight Bit of ammonia on the draw which was surprising for what appears to be an aged stick. Other flavors included some pepper and the typical desert notes you get from Padrón maduros. Typical light draw from the cut. First Third Man this thing had strong pepper to kick off the smoke followed by cocoa and heavy baking spices but faded after 10 or so minutes. The cigar mellowed out to a pleasant lighter baking spice and HEAVY fudge on the finish like a pan of fresh brownies. A hint of dark toast to go with the finish. Second Third More. Fudge. This thing was surprisingly good with the desert flavors. Add some cocoa and more baking spices, maybe some cinnamon? Not much change (which isn't a bad thing). Final Third The cocoa is thill there, things are lightening up but moving to more of a licorice finish with some light bitterness on the end. Final Thoughts Good cigar that wants to be great. Some serious issues with the burn on the cigar that needed some babying and touchup. My father who is a seasoned smoker did call out one important thing, it is strikingly similar in appearance to the Padrón 6000 maduro. I looked it up and it sports the exact same 5 1/2" x 52 belicoso appearance and sells for ~$6.50 but probably lacks the age this has. Take it for what it's worth but I thought it was a notable observation to pull out of thin air. Score: 92 7
