I’ve been successful so far keeping my hands off the Hoyo DC cab but thinking NYE might be a fine evening to try my first one paired with some Cuban sipping rum.

For me the final cigar will be another Montecristo A from a 2007 box I've been nursing along.

Perfect smoke from starters through dessert to champagne as I get almost 3 hours from these.

First cigar of 2022 is at question though,

Hanging with the wife & our little guys.  We'll eat some takeout, have a dance party & put the kids down for bed.   Hoping wife & I will stay awake long enough to watch Michigan beat Georgia and welcome in the New Year ;)   Getting over a cold, so nothing too big if anything at all ... maybe a Siglo I ....

Forecast is -25°C so I might be just gazing at my humidors longingly but you never know. With sufficient fortification…

No idea on my cigar yet. Due to the fine gentlemen on this forum in the Champagne Master Class, I’m having my first bottle of Pol Roger. Bollinger Brut was sold out everywhere in a 2 hour radius of me.

Any cigar pairing suggestions with Pol Roger? I basically have a box of Robusto, Piramide, or Petit Corona size of every regular production Cuban, as well as popular other releases like Connie A. I’m thinking Cohiba Robusto, Sancho Panza Belicoso, San Cristobal La Fuerza or Ramon Allones Superiores.

The 21 sampler D4. Done and YES. Next up a CCE and Roederer 242 since I passed the master champagne class.

Well, maybe not passed but no one told me I failed so I got that going for me. 😂

Not a big fan. Vintage Madeira is best for birthday presents.. My daughter is a 1980 version. Considered Madeira but ended up with port. Pineau de Charante from Cognac area is my favourite when it comes to this class of product.

It was excellent. 1.5 hours on the original decant. But over the course of the evening, it just got better and better. Great wine. I know it’s a bit of apples and pears to compare a great Napa Cab with a grand cru Burgundy such as Romanée-Conti, but it is certainly in that league of wonderfully crafted wine - from vine to bottle. 

The Meursault was also an excellent expression   All in all, a great NYE! We’re now preparing in Shanghai to celebrate again next week for the Chinese New Year. Along with wine, there will also be the obligatory aged Guizhou Maotai Baijiu (贵州茅台白酒). 😂

Happy to hear it was showing well! It’s a very tasty wine. If I may recommend Maybach Materium and Heitz Martha’s as worth wines with age. 
 

Can’t ever go wrong with white and red burg! 🙂
