Popular Post saltbox Posted December 19, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 19, 2021 Having already tried the N1 lancero, I was looking forward to trying this to see how the blends compared. Pre light, the cigar largely resembles the lancero in aroma and cold draw: leather cream hay and honeyed nuts. Based on old posts and polls, the difference between the two is more than just the size. First third: opens with leather, cream, hay, and nuttiness. There's more cedar and leather here than in the lancero, and it's definitely a bit more rustic. There's a touch of peppery spice along with the cedar, which I didn't get in the lancero either. Some of the familiar honeyed nuts come in, but this cigar is still a bit rougher around the edges. Middle third: at the halfway point, a touch of sourdough appears as the spices pick up a more exotic nature, with an almost anise like quality. Last third: the hay, which had faded out in the first third, reappears as the last third begins. The cigar has picked up a bit more weight on the palate but definitely under medium bodied. Overall: pretty good and definitely different from the lancero. The lancero was smooth and creamy, classy even. This carlota was a bit more fiesty. Between the two I'd probably choose the lancero, but it's personal preference (maybe analogous to whether you like PLPCs young or aged). 88/100 16
