Saturday:

I don’t know

Sunday:

Watch Lions lose then I don’t know

Ummm...so the weekend promises many possibilities? 😉 😁 👍

Posted

Saturday - Take both dogs to the groomer and then pick them back up later.  A little grocery shopping after dropping them off.  Nothing else planned.

Sunday - Nothing planned.

@Nevrknow some serious steel there. Are you a carbon fan or are most of those stainless? I always find a way to convince myself I need more of both.

Mostly Japanese steel. AS and white. Just keeps an edge off Japanese natural stones forever. Stainless can’t even come close.

Love those knives, @Nevrknow. I am loyal to a Takamura 210 Gyoto with R2 core. Once you go special steel, it’s hard to go back…

My weekend involved a covid booster, rock climbing, and losing the argument with my partner that Die Hard was the right Xmas movie for our 8 & 11 year olds.

Been rendering leaf lard off a local pig our farmer friend gave me today.  So silky smooth and clean.  Leaf lard can be used as a butter or oil substitute and in several respects is healthier.

Best pie crust ever.

I agree. I have takedas, moritakas, itsuo, and Keijro dois among others but that takamura R2 surpasses the matsubara R2 for some reason. And costs less!

My fascination came because I hated those bland ho wood handles. Hence my “nice blades” all have custom burl handles I made. The ones in that pic are the ones I let the family and guests use. 😂

Last count I have 78. I’m not going into the Japanese sharpening stones I have. That’s a whole diff argument for the wife to complain about. 😂😂

So what's the right movie?

Oh. Yesterday went to see mum. Which involved dinner, mums cooking 👍👌, figured out how to get Greek EuroNews YT live video onto her Kodi interface so she can easily find it ... I see phone calls about this coming....

Today supposed to go into town to have a pre Christmasy day. So far bad moods ensued because registering the new toaster guarantee online due to 'someone' having no patience with technology 🤭 this included kicking the empty toaster box because 'it' got in the way 🤫. It's not 11AM yet...

We ended up watching Jingle Jangle, the Netflix thing with Forrest Whitaker. Bit of a saccharine overload, but the kids enjoyed it. Helped along by a nicely cellar aged bottle of Bollinger for the adults.

I have the same toaster for several years, but different color.

Yeah this is our third in over 25 years. They do last. The timer went on the old one and SWMBO doesn't do repairs ..

I don't think it does that great as a toaster.  Could use a louder bell or sound when it's done.  Looks cool.

Take the plunge. Everything smeg I’ve ever bought is extremely well made. Hand blender is also a champ!

Again, SWMBO likes how it looks.... Same concept with the kettle that takes too long to boil...

Smeg from what I hear make a nice product line, but I am not much for the styling of their products.  There is a Smeg dealer across the street from my parents' house.
