tjkoala Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Visiting my niece and nephew before the holidays and figured it’d be a great opportunity to try a tubos from a recent order. Pre Light Getting some good notes of barnyard, dry hay, and light chocolate. First Third Getting a good cuban funk from this stick, charcoal notes, floral turning into a full tea flavor, light milk chocolate lingering. Second Third Light white pepper, traditional Cuban tobacco flavors. Final Third Struggles start to keep this one lit and it wants some serious babying, more black pepper, Cuban twang beginning to fade, cream starting to kick up. Final Thoughts This cigar started off super promising with a firm but good draw, entering the final third it felt like it took a box of matches to keep it lit and stop tunneling. Unusually the draw became really tight which I haven’t experienced this far into a cigar that was great early on before and became more work than it was worth. Black pepper probably coming from over working it so it wouldn’t go out. Serious potential early on but a frustrating end. Could’ve been a 91/92, maybe I’ll dry box the next one for 24 hours before lighting up Score: 87 - couldn’t rate it any higher because of how it ended unfortunately. 3
