Ken Gargett Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 this is from the scientific journal cosmos. no doubt there will be those who chose not to believe but for those who prefer science, this is interesting stuff. Third dose: finally some results Third “booster” doses of COVID-19 vaccines are safe and increase immunity when given to people who have received either two doses of the AstraZeneca or Pfizer jabs, according to UK researchers. COVID booster vaccine test results Results are in from the first randomised, double-blinded, controlled phase 2 clinical trial to look at the safety, immune response and side effects of a third dose of seven COVID-19 vaccines. The trial was conducted by the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust in the UK and recently published in The Lancet. The study included 2,878 participants aged 30 years or older who had received either two doses of AstraZeneca at least 70 days before the booster vaccine or two doses of Pfizer at least 84 days before the booster. None of the participants had a history of laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection or comorbidities. AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Novavax, Janssen, Moderna, Valneva and Curevac were used as a third (booster) dose. Researchers separated participants into three groups. Within each group, participants were randomly assigned to a full or a half dose of an experimental vaccine or a control – a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine. All combinations were safe, with adverse reactions similar to those reported for primary and second doses. Complaints included fatigue, headache, and pain at the injection site. Researchers also looked at the immune response 28 days after a booster vaccine. They found that all study vaccines boosted antibody and neutralising responses when participants had previously received the two AstraZeneca doses. In comparison, those who had initially received Pfizer developed an immune response with all study vaccines except Valneva. “It’s really encouraging that a wide range of vaccines, using different technologies, show benefits as a third dose to either AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech,” said Professor Saul Faust, trial lead and director of the NIHR Clinical Research Facility, University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. “That gives confidence and flexibility in developing booster programmes here in the UK and globally, with other factors like supply chain and logistics also in play.” However, the researchers noted significant variations in immune responses depending on the combination of vaccines. After both two doses of AstraZeneca or two doses of Pfizer, a half dose of Valneva booster gave the lowest immune response, and a full dose of Moderna provided the highest. Several studies have shown that two doses of AstraZeneca and Pfizer offer 79% and 90% protection against hospitalisation and death after six months. However, it’s now evident that protection against COVID-19 infection wanes over time. That has driven considerations of booster vaccine effectiveness, particularly with new variants such as Omicron looming over the world. The substantial variation in the immune responses elicited by each booster vaccine, along with vaccine availability, could help inform policy decisions on boosters. Results from this first trial are encouraging, but further work is necessary to assess long-term protection and immunological memory generated by the different COVID booster vaccines. The researchers plan to follow up with each participant at three months and one year after the booster vaccine. Originally published by Cosmos as Third dose: finally some results 2 2
BEVOSREVENGE Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Thanks for posting. Got my 3rd jab of Pfizer this morning.
nKostyan Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 My vaccination certificate is valid until March 2022. Last week I had a medical examination, the therapist advised a second vaccination now. I have 4 friends who were re-vaccinated and 3 of them within 2 weeks fell ill with COVID-19 in a mild form. I know 2 generally recognized facts: - during epidemics are not vaccinated - the vaccine puts a strain on the Immunity (temporarily weakens)I am still in thought and confusion. Perhaps I will do this before the New Year holidays, so that after vaccination I can isolate myself from the outside world alone with cigars, alcohol and family 1
Popular Post mprach024 Posted December 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 8, 2021 Got my booster 2 weeks ago (3rd Pfizer), arm was sore for a day, that’s it. I guess that means I now have 4 GPS trackers on me at all times. I guarantee my search history is far more incriminating and so far the FBI has not shown up at my door so I guess I’m good to go!!! 6
jfire Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Pfizer shot in December 2020 and January 21. Came down with Covid on Halloween gifted to me by my battalion chief most likely. Both vaxed and we both got it pretty good. No hospitals but I’m still dealing with lung issues. No booster for me anymore. 3
Popular Post BrightonCorgi Posted December 8, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 8, 2021 Every quarter a new booster will be required, for life. 7
Chibearsv Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I got my second shingles vaccine last week and asked the nurse whether I should get my covid booster as well. She told me to wait a couple weeks after the shingles vaccine. She also suggested I might want to choose a different booster rather than what was administered originally. I got the Pfizer 2 pack originally and I was considering mixing it up with Moderna for the booster. This research piece makes up my mind to do exactly that. Thanks 1

Thanks very wise getting the shingles vax. worst pain ever. only wish i'd known there was such a thing.
Puros Y Vino Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Got the regular flu shot a few weeks ago. Have my shingles prescription in mand. Doctor told me to wait a month after Flu shot for that one. By the time that's done, I'll be eligible for my 3rd COVID shot. Aiming for Moderna. My first was AZ, second, Moderna. Don't want to mix it up again if I dont have to.
anacostiakat Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 We both got our Moderna Booster in October. Also Flu Shots. I also had my second Shingrix Shingles shot in August I think it was. Bad chills and sweats overnight. It had the worse side affects for me out of all the shots.

My Dad is 77 and tough as nails. He got shingles, had it all over one of his eyes for months. He called it “unbearable” …I was actually suprised to hear him say that word. We always joke about the “it’s just a flesh wound” scene in Monty Python’s Holy Grail as being my dad.
Squarehead Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I'm getting my 3rd shot this friday(dec.10th).Never had any issues before.
La_Tigre Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Antibody testing showed titre in the double digits 7 months after the second shot. Currently greater than upper limit (1000’s) titre level 2 months after booster. This is the Pfizer vaccine. Zero titre level from actual COVID as neither of us were infected. 1

BrightonCorgi Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I had what was for all intent of purposes shingles a long time ago. Was actually poison sumac or something, but manifested the same way; halfway around my body just above the waist. Was utter hell for a week. I plan on the shingles vaccine for sure.

Popular Post Foulhook Posted December 9, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2021 Slowly losing respect for Australia. What was once a great country. Every person I know here in the states that was vaccinated has also had covid. The 95% is crap. It’s down to about 47% now and that’s only two weeks after you had your second dose then it wanes quickly..The NIH got in bed with moderna before the virus was even released we are finding out. Go ahead and get your obedience jabs and in two months you’ll be officially unvaccinated again. Lather, rinse, repeat until the end of time. No virus that shares host with the wild has ever been eradicated by a vaccine in history and this one won’t either. Omicron my be our best bet. A variant that is highly transmissible but very mild symptoms... that’s the one you want to catch. I can’t believe what I see down in OZ.. seriously, covid concentration camps? What will we do if a real challenge ever happens? Everyone has become a soy boy liberal. Scared of a virus that even a 65 yo has a 99% chance of surviving? If the beaches at Normandy could speak. 🙄.. I can’t believe y’all smoke cigars! Don’t you know you have a greater chance of dying from smoking cigars than from covid? We need a tobacco vaccine if we are going to continue this madness! 4 1
