23 adults plus some kids and a magician jammed into a Hong Komg apartment. Turkey, ham and prime rib, with champagne and pinotage to wash it down with. Should be fun! Lots to be thankful for

Some interesting foods and plans noted here for Thanksgiving.  I grew up 25 miles from Plymouth Rock (where the pilgrims landed) and went to school with several pilgrim descendants.  If it's not a near depiction of Norman Rockwell's Thanksgiving (also a Masshole); it seems like a non-traditional day to me.

Years ago I did some research on the original Thanksgiving and found that seafood was prominent which makes sense based on the proximity to the ocean.  I made paella that year and it was a huge hit.  Not quite Norman Rockwell though.  😁

Dear hunting season is around Thanksgiving around here.  Lot of wild turkeys and of course seafood.  Clams, bass, flounder.

Renewing the annual tradition that was shelved last year - hosting 25-40 family members at the house for an afternoon/evening of gluttony and debauchery, living up being thankful to its fullest.  First time in a long time I won't deep fry a turkey, but instead have decided to give a go at smoking one on my "this pandemic sucks and I'm bored so I'll buy a" Kamado Joe.  Crossing my fingers.  Plenty of Greek apps and whatnot along with the traditional sides to distract from any turkey misfires.  Besides, gravy on everything should solve any problems.

Cigars and whiskey of all sorts throughout.

I’ve had two Canadian Thanksgiving’s with my KJ and they are the two best turkey’s I’ve ever had. Enjoy 👍

Keeping it small with just the wife and kids. Turkey is already in the brine, going to get up at 0430ish and fire the smoker then tend the firebox most of the day.

No cigars planned since I never smoke at home or around my kids, but the smell of smoldering cherry and hickory will keep a smile on my face.

Had to put my beef ribs off until Saturday. To much going on today. I quote “ my God who are you cooking for?”

me “ an Army!”

We had about twenty family members over this year. I cooked for two days, and everything came out great. Today when sampling all of the leftovers it occurred to me that one of the best things we had was a dessert my sister in law brought over. It’s a dessert take on the turducken, the piecaken. We had the original, and it was excellent.

That piecaken looks really good, and I don't even like pumpkin pie. Would most likely do some serious damage to it.
