FOH International Blind Tasting Competition: Cigar Number 2. Official thread

Recommended Posts

Cigar 2 opens medium plus and the draw is perfect. Very good construction. It is sweet with dry cocoa. A little cream. Picks up body in the middle, them smooths out for the final third. Consistent flavor to the end.

It's amazing to read how different everyone's experiences are with the same cigar. No wonder most of us tank in these blind tastings 🤣

palates are like finger prints. Each is different :D

Smoking time? draw? health? mindspace? brew? construction/blend?

It would be unrealistic to expect everyone to taste the same profile.

I got a lot of similar flavors as others. It never gave me a fight on the draw but the burn was all over the place. I think this cigar could easily use another six months of sitting to mellow out.

First third: wood, tannic, earthy

second third: slight spice, salty, burnt chocolate or burnt coffee

last third: spice over powers other flavors, light cream, salt still on my tongue, very strong nicotine hit

At the end: all spice and nicotine hits

If I only guessed on others comments I’d guess this was a very young Boli PC but I have a few ideas to mull through over the next hour.

Cigar 2

Pre-light- dark, mottled, box pressed. Smooth, oily wrapper. Good, slightly firm draw

First puff- coffee grounds, maybe a little saltiness

1st 3rd - saltiness gone, little to no Cuban earthy notes in taste or smell

2nd 3rd - slight peanut butter a bit more Cuban earth on the nose. Unsweetened coffee cake. No clue, but really good. Smooth

Last 3rd - more unsweetened peanut butter, with the coffee in the background, then turned from peanut to over roasted almonds

If I had gotten ANY chocolate notes, or to a lessor extent, earth…..note to self, watch the video more than once! That was pretty wild, as I got no Montecristo out of that cigar. The other thing that threw me was the strength in the last third! That thing put me to bed!!

Monte 4 was the one cigar in the PC lineup that I figured I couldn’t miss! Haha!

Fun stuff! My hat is off to all of you who are crushing this deal!
