10 year mystery solved in Pittsburgh

Shortly after my wife and I built our previous house in 2009, we had a dinner party for several associates at her law firm and their spouses. The party was a huge success with many bottles of wine consumed. At the end of the night I was a bit inebriated and my wife was already asleep when I had the brilliant idea to smoke a cigar on the deck. At some point I abandoned the idea but not until I had gathered up everything I needed to smoke, cutter, lighter, etc. 

In the morning I found the cigar and cutter sitting on the kitchen counter but the lighter had vanished. It bothered me because it was a nice torch lighter that someone had gifted to me.  Nothing fancy, but it always worked. I figured I would find it eventually but never did. I concluded that I must have gone outside on the deck where I had somehow dropped it in our yard and it had fallen down a drain or hole or something. 

Flash forward at least ten years and my wife and I had built another house due to the addition of our rapidly growing twin boys.  When moving day came, I let the crew into the living room where the first guy inside dropped down and hit the bottom of the sectional to unhook the two pieces. When he did, a small object fell out and hit the floor. He grabbed it and put in on the counter in front of me. And there it was- in perfect working order no less. Case closed.

Great story.   

When you get older you will find that very often gremlins will visit your house and take stuff--and then it will reappear when you least expect it.

(Well, that is my explanation and I am sticking to it.)  😀
