RASS Feb 19 (JBWP3RW)

This is from one of the first boxes I ever bought a couple of years ago. When I first got into cigars I thought Robustos were the best place to start so I bought a box of RASS, D4, and Epi 2 which all seemed to be the ones which everyone always recommended. Of the 3 the Epi 2’s have been poor, the D4’s excellent and the RASS a bit of both. This is the first I’ve had since at least the spring but maybe not since autumn last year, I can’t quite remember.

 

 

Nice dark wrapper, one large vein through the centre. Straight cut the top cap for a perfect draw, very slight resistance. Paired with a single malt Islay whiskey and a beer.

 

 

RASS have the most unique flavour of anything I’ve ever smoked. It’s like charcoal but with a hint of sweetness. Retro is super smooth, burn is perfect.

 

 

Construction was almost perfect throughout, a minor touch up on one side. Flavour profile remained pretty consistent throughout, only noticeable difference was a bit more spice on the retro in the final third. I’d guess the charcoal is what is commonly described as mongrel, the sweetness is so distinct to this stick I’d think that must be the stone fruit that people pick up. My palate isn’t refined to actually pick up those flavours, I’m just assuming that’s what more experienced smokers note them as.

 

Either way it was a wonderful smoke. Back into the humidor these go until early summer next year, I think there’s 17 left in the box, a cab of these is definitely on the to buy list.
