Great article from Ken - I love Cohiba Lanceros but can never buy any... Perpetually out of stock or stratospherically priced.

My then wife (now ex-wife) left my humidor open and ruined three boxes of Lanceros when I lived in Panama in 2012. I wish this was the excuse for our divorce but I got over it (after many, many years)

You are a far more forgiving man than I. 1 box would've done it for me.

Great article Ken. Really enjoy your research and writing. I am always looking forward to the latest Quill and Pad.

Damn, @Ken Gargett I had the shingles on the back of my head over a decade ago and must agree that it is the worst, I still have nerve damage in the area as a reminder.  Going through that while locked out of home sounds like pure hell.  Glad you have recovered and I enjoyed the history and review very much.

thanks to everyone.

i thought i'd recovered but apparently shingles often leaves a little in the form of something called postherpetic neuralgia. which is basically shingles lite. you don't get the blistering and the pain is not quite as bad, but it is not fun. same nerves as shingles attacked and this thing lasts for ages. i'm told could be weeks, months or even years. i suspect that your nerve pain is a bit of that. its weird because every time i say it seems to be getting better it comes back harder. so i am not saying that now until i am fully clear. should be around 2024. at the moment, can't go for a fish and can't even manage a walk on the beach. fingers crossed that will all change soon.

i had two aunts, different sides of the family, who both copped shingles worse than mine. all over the back and both had it across their faces. it is a bastard of a disease. get vaxxed!!!

I've sloughed off the shingles vax for years now.  Your posted experience has motivated me to get that vax this year.  Sounds like an experience we should all try to avoid.  Thanks!

Great article Ken - very good read and quite accurate.

I love Lanceros and the ones from El Laguito certainly are the best.

That mansion was at one point also the Cuban Navy Dept. or Cuban Naval HQ - still today El Laguito staff refer to the factory as "La Marina" recalling that early use of the Villa.

Cheers

you'll never know whether you were going to get it but if the vax does save you, i can assure you that it was more than worth it.
