Popular Post teamrandr Posted September 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 2, 2021 Not the prettiest cigar. The wrapper is a bit toothy. It does feel just the right amount of firm. Very pleasant aroma at cold. A certain sweet fruity note is right up front. It lacks the usual barnyard. It is a very clean aroma so to speak. Touch of cookie and graham underneath. It is a beautiful September day here in Michigan. Great time to kick back and review this for the FOH family. 1/3 Very light to start off. The retrohale is where it's at. Nice smooth notes of cinnamon, slight sugar. Has an underlying citrus note. Not quite orange though. Maybe even apricot like. Either way it is very enjoyable so far. No edges and the draws are quite good. Also noted is the smoke output which is very good. 2/3 I have not bought any boxes of this Marca. I probably should. The smoke has taken on a bit of body now. Deeper notes of chocolate emerge. The apricot citrus thing is gone. The draws have opened up considerably. I'm getting a bit of rich Havana tobacco now. This is welcomed. Retrohale is still quite smooth and brings forth the cinnamon note with a touch of nutmeg. I should note I am pairing this with water rather than my usual go to which is wine. 1/2 Slight nicotine kick is noted. The flavor has become an bit tannic. Slight woody notes mingle with some tobacco, chocolate and the baking spices. Flavors linger on the palate. This is most likely due to the lack of alcohol consumption. As it moves into the final 3rd it becomes quite robust. Final 3rd. A bit disappointing now. I'm okay with it all. It is very young yet. The great opening flavors have all bit disappeared. Mostly wood and tobacco at this point. Noticeable nicotine kick. Will have to snag a box to lay down for a good while and revisit. I am going to go ahead and put this one down well before the nub. Score: 7/10 Started off amazing ended on a bad note. I'm not mad. Its young and is an example of a cigar that needs a decent amount of rest. Will definitely revisit down the road. 13
patrickamory Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Smoking a 2016 right now (PCC). This my second from the box. I think you'll find that with age (or maybe rest) it's more consistent through the stick. Very easy draw by the way! 2
Meesterjojo Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 The last 1/3 of mine has the most flavor. Shame
GVan Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 JL!'s and JL2's are the hardest stick for me to try and let them get some age. My 2019's are smoking lights out. I'm going to try the @SigmundChurchill trick and put away the last 3 from each box to age while I start the next box .... 1
