Popular Post HuffnPuffff Posted September 2, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 2, 2021 I bought a 6-pack of PPC aged stock a few months ago that I received in June. They looked quite dark and turdy although I’ve learnt not to read too much into that. My electronic humidor has a turbo-prep-for-smoking function so I put it in there for an hour and it smelt fantastic after that. I think that compartment is a sort of quasi-toaster oven that heats and dries cigars. An hour or two makes a big difference. Honey & a bit of barnyard (easy on the pooh). So I headed outside onto the covered balcony with a Shiraz gin & soda and fired it up. POW-wow! What a corker! I’m not great at picking out the flavours myself and I was a bit distracted trying to fire-up Netflix on my iPad in the dark without knocking over my drink or dropping my cigar or AirPods onto the wet floor (there was one hell of a downpour going on that was doing it’s best to defo gravity and join in on my fun). So let’s just say it had triple woof, lots of depth and pizzaz and measured 6.8 on the Richter scale. I’m watching the excellent Queen’s Gambit series and once I’d settled into that and worked out how not to knock everything over in the dark I was able to relax and bit and contemplate the cigar a bit more. El Prezo calls this the poor man’s CoRo and whilst I avoid Cohiba’s like the tax man and therefore have only smoked a few, I totally get it. This had creamy citrus and warm biscuit, lots of depth and richness and I smoked it until my finger-tips were past medium rare. Even the last few puffs were perfectly smooth and rich rather than harsh or angular. I’ve notice on the last little bit of a few cigars (this included) a touch of something like menthol. Not like a menthol cigarette but perhaps more like mint tea on the tongue. I wonder if others get that too sometimes? In a nutshell I’d give this a full Spinal Tap 11/10. One of the best cigars I’ve smoked this year. Very highly recommended. Well done Juan. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 18
patrickamory Posted September 3, 2021 Posted September 3, 2021 Aha! I responded to someone who is smoking a 2020 edition of this cigar, but you and I bought from the same batch. About halfway through tonight, accompanied by a Chilean cabernet. Absolutely fantastic toasted graham-cracker complexity. I really love these. 1
guideright Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 excellent review - and yes I've gotten mint, menthol-ish and other wonderful twist and turns with these... 1
Meesterjojo Posted September 4, 2021 Posted September 4, 2021 I'm smoking one now with a yuengling. Great stuff. The cigar, too! 2
