freelunch0402 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 I've been smoking Partagas Serie D No. 6 a few days earlier and felt the D6 had around 5 minutes of D4. Consecutively, a question popped up in my mind: Does the D4/5/6 have the 'family look'(i.e. BMW/Mercedes and many car manufacturers have this similar/common look among their lineups)? - Cohiba Siglo Line: i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, Medio Siglo : don't have enough experience to have a say, but looks like they have grass/honey as the family look, vi being the Mercedes S class and ii being the C class. - Cohiba Maduro5 Line: Genios, Magicos, Secretos - H. Upmann Connoisseur Line: A, B, 1, 2 - H. Upmann Magnum Line: 46, 50, 54 (LE excluded) : very different cigars to me and wouldn't say they have the family look other than having thicker-than-classic cuban cigar ring gauge. - Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Line: Epi 1, 2 - Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo Line: Rio Seco, San Juan, Depute, Maire - Juan Lopez Seleccion Line: 1, 2 - Montecristo Number Line: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 : I would say 1/3/4 seems to have the family look but 2/5 are different enough to be named otherwise imo. If stretched, No.2 could be a milder version of 1/3/4 but the piramides mouth feel parts them off. - Montecristo Open Line: Junior, Regata, Eagle, Master : Decided to explore other cigars before to the Open Line, so no idea. - Montecristo Linea 1935 Line: Dumas, Maltes, Leyenda : Maybe deep chocolate as the family look, but Leyenda being more elegant in delivery(referred from reviews). - Partagas Maduro Line: 1, 2, 3 - Partagas Serie Line: D4, D5, D6, P2, E2: P2 seemed like a friendlier D4, D6 a shorter split second D4. I think they have the spicy/perfumy family look. - RyJ XXX Churchills: Petit, Short, Wide, and the normal Churchill : Seems Habanos is selling the 'Sir Churchill's favorite cigar brand' story too much. Had very different experience with Short vs Petit. *some of the listed category and the use of 'line' is different with the Habanos official Linea categorization, but did so for ease of comparison. As I have many more cigars to try, I wanted to ask this question to the 'Jedi Council' of cuban cigars, which I believe is FOH. May the force be with you all.
Meesterjojo Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 This is why I wish someone had samplers for a brand rather than samplers across brands. 1
El Presidente Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 I think in most cases, there is an unmistakeable flavour DNA in Marca lines assuming similar wrappers. The one with the least to me is Cohiba Linea. Partagas, absolutley. D 456 share remarkable DNA Upmann Connie line same. Now the Connie 1 and the Connie 2 are very different but share that sourdough base. A & B are lke siblings. The 46 and 50 (Upmann) are as different as you will ever find. In the 54 however you can see its relationsip with the 50 and 56. QD 50 and 54, unmistakeable DNA again. R&J Churchill lines....if they use rosado wrappers....you would say no doubt. When they don't it is a crapshoot. 3

Really appreciate the information Presidente. Thanks!
Edicion Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I would add that Bolivars also share the same family DNA for most of the regular production
