H. Upmann Magnum 46 OER JUN 20 (JBWRW)

I am a huge H. Upmann fanboy, and the Mag 46 is a staple in my humi.  Rarely disappoints, and this one was no different.  

First half was medium body and strength.  I think that many here consider the Mag 46 at the top of the strength curve, but I really don't.  But the "mongrel" descriptor on the young ones I do.  Graham, honey, espresso, leather, toasted nuts.  Well constructed, oily, tasty.  

Second third developed more strength with the espresso/coffee coming in a bit stronger.  Cinnamon and earthiness develop along with a very light sweetness. 

Last third, I got that "mongrel" with some leather, licorice and dark chocolate bringing it on home.   

I find the Mag 46 to be remarkably consistent.  This one gets an "A-" in my book.

Would you say it's the same as a mag 50? I haven't tried the others but I imagine it's the same other than size. I will say with Connie As there's thus underlying note which is distinctly upmann, yet different.

No.  I've found the 50's to be much more mellow (not as bright) and a bit more complex.  Like the Connie 1 is to the Connie A.  Of course, it all depends on the quality of the box you draw from, but I do like the 50's I've had 'cause they're different.  Some around here. . . cough. . . cough. . . NSX. . . Larabold . . . have childhood traumas that prevent them from appreciating the Mag 50.  Oh well, all the more for me.

BTW, the 50s are for children. I like to hand them out for Halloween. You should see their faces. Light right up.
