I have $50 riding on the outcome of this poll. Will reveal the background tomorrow ;)

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

You are a guest at a long lunch with half a dozen cigar loving friends. . You have all been friends for a long time and the last Friday of each quarter you take it in turns to host. The menu is up to the host and each of the guests brings 1 bottle of something decent + throws in $50 for the food and the post lunch cigar which is always organised by the host.

This lunch you are surprised when the host brings out an old Selanor humidor that when the lid is lifted reveals 4 sections each containing 20 bandless Lonsdales.

The host explains that these cigars were rolled by the famous cuban roller "Maximus Robusto" from the famed factory of mañana" and that all four  were rolled to exacting blends that are very different.

All cigars are medium bodied. The perfect after lunch cigar.

The blends are as described.  The drink is up to you to choose. The meal was not heavy.

Which blend do you select.

Monte

Upmann

RASS

Cohiba

just how I envisioned’em when I voted at least.

interesting to take another poll after this - choosing only one brand and seeing if the outcome is similar.

I’ve come to associate top quality bread/sourdough notes as uniquely Cuban - leading me to option #2. In NCs, I can find good chocolates in maduros, stone fruits in things like Ligas, and citrus and/or spices in other places too.

Not to say those notes aren’t specific or different in Cuban cigars (they are) - but a truly good twangy, bread note seems harder in NCs. I seem to find only in the rare Tatuaje.

i voted in the way that i thought would win you the bet (but it was also the way i would have voted even if no dosh involved).

i shall reveal once we hear more.

This boils my piss,  as I had to vote Cohiba, even though due to the description I was actually voting for QDO.   I will caveat it in saying the citrus has to be orange, as opposed to lemon. Ha! not that i'm obsessed or anything.

Lost my bet.

I said 40% of people would go for cocoa/coffee/cream.

Damn you........you people are too discerning!

The results surprised me.

.....in a good way

$50 gone and I thought it was a safe bet. I even rigged it slightly by putting it first on the list

so that means that at least one of your customers knows your market better than yourself?

obviously, given the way i voted, it is not me.

What are some good Cubans with a cocoa/coffee/cream profile?

40% sounds high .. but that combo came out tops though, if that's any consolation to you.

If it were just 3 profiles to choose from, I think 40% would have been a possibility!

Anything Montecristo.   Especially these cigars

- Monte Petit Edmundo - Especial - Especial No 2 - Monte No 2 - Monte No 4 -

Rafael Gonzales also have some good chocolate notes

I voted for the least popular one.  I knew there would not be as many votes for it, but nice to see some others have the same taste!

It could be that is probably the least common flavor grouping in cigars (leather/mushroom/dried fruits dominant)?

Generally, I prefer the creamy chocolatey cigars in the morning with coffee, lighter flavors like citrus, biscuit, bread.. in the afternoon, and the heavier earthy and leathery flavors to end the day.  After the described lunch, all that popped in my head was Siglo III
