Popular Post El Presidente Posted August 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 16, 2021 Japanese golfers have hole-in-one insurance. Shutterstock If you think that you take sports seriously, consider that an estimated four million golfers in Japan make sure that they have hole-in-one insurance before they take a swing, and have been doing so since the first such policy was offered in 1982. Amateur players pay a premium of $65 a year for $3,500 in coverage. The extra cash comes in handy if a golfer nails the impressive feat and is then expected to celebrate by paying for food, drinks, and gifts, which can cost quite a bit. 4 3
wineguy Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Most private clubs in US have a system of it. I get dinged on my bill $3-5 every time someone has a hole in one with a note of congrats and the name. Its voluntary but shares the burden. 1

Our club charges $20 for each hole-in-one for members that want to participate. It happens so rarely, it's not a big expense. I know that for golf outing hole-in-one prizes, the "donator" usually purchases insurance to cover the item that's "donated" in case someone gets the ace.
Timothy556 Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. 1
thecapo Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I belong to a private club with 250 members. If a hole n 1 is made, the club collects 10.00 from every member and the one who made the ultimate shot gets that as a credit on his or her account!!
OrangePaw Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 The guys at our club put in $1 every round played and the cash pot accumulates until someone has an ace. Couple years ago a buddy had one on Saturday and collected a few thousand dollars. The next day another buddy I was playing with had one and collected 18 bucks 😂 2
Chas.Alpha Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 My insurance premiums should be very low... 😔 1
Ken Gargett Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 mum got one once. can't remember what she had for breakfast but she can give a detailed description of the hole-in-one. and does so regularly. i got a hole-in-one-ish. corporate day years ago. on the tee on the first which was a par three, so many watching. i step up and play exactly the sort of shot you'd expect. a shocker. it dribbled to the women's tee. hoots and derision. so my next shot is from the women's tee (good luck finding something more embarrassing than that - in front of a heap of mates, colleagues and clients who are all now giving their opinion and assisting). i step and bang, straight into the hole (my victory dance is a thing of beauty). so i figure a shot from the tee (even if not strictly the bloke's tee) is at least a hole-in-one-ish. 3
SigmundChurchill Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 At my club, the insurance is part of the dues. I love it when I am sitting by the pool and the waiter goes around offering everyone a free drink because someone just got a hole in one. 1
mprach024 Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 $14 last month (7x$2) on my bill for Hole in One Insurance.
