Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted August 19, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 19, 2021 one final vaccine-related post for today, hopefully. chatting to a mate of mine last night. he was telling me about a friend of his wife, with whom he was recently talking at a dinner party. this friend is apparently extremely obese and always has been. always eating. she drinks heavily, every day. usually by herself before the hubby is home. she smokes at least a pack a day. when the topic of the vaccine came up - inevitable these days - she was adamant that under no circumstances would she get it. my mate asked her why. "because i am very careful about what i put into my body". my mate had to leave for outside for "fresh air" immediately, but mostly because he did not want to be seen laughing in front of her. humans are very odd creatures. 1 6

I think as an American, I have the right to choose what I put in my body and if I want to assume the risk of not getting a vaccine that is proven to work, then I should be allowed to assume that risk. I’d only be killing other people who knowingly assumed the same risk. Unfortunately that's not the case at all; there are many who cannot receive it for many reasons such as small children. My son caught the chicken pox while only a few months old from a child who could have been vaccinated several years prior but the parents were anti-vaxxers. Infants must rely on herd immunity as the vaccine is not available until 12 months, but unfortunately there are those who don't share the same level of concern or care for my family that I do. Chickenpox in a healthy 5-year-old is an inconvenience - the same in our infant resulted in high fever and hospitalization. I wish that on no one. 3 1

I contracted chickenpox at 6 months old from a relative's child who didn't tell my parents their kid was infected.

Tstew75 Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Changes coming this fall in Oregon: all teachers, school staff and volunteers + all health care workers must be vaccinated & can no longer rely on testing alone. A reversal of earlier course, and a good one. 2 1 2
RedLantern Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 I'm curious how long after FDA approval comes it will take for schools to require students to be vaccinated?
