I asked my parents to buy this as my only Christmas gift, set them back $120; a lot of money for them. Still use it regularly, faster then using my phone or computer. Uses RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) for calculation entry. How many out there know how much better that is than the TI-55…? 1

Glass Half Full Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Doc! Doc! The future just called. It's time to go back! Was helping my 96-year old Dad go through some boxes he hadn't opened in 50+ years. Found his home telephone from when he was a kid. (Notice no dial He remembered his phone number though: 191. 3

El Presidente Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 It must say that I was rather disappointing when I actually visited a tyre store for the first time in 1983. 1

Chibearsv Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Remember the stereo systems we were going for in the 70s and 80s. We wanted a job in our teens to be able to buy the components to put it together. Mine was a Harman Kardon 590 receiver, Micro Sekei turntable, ESS speakers, and Pioneer tape player. It took me about 6 months of full time work to save up for each component. The good old days. It's pretty amazing I've gone from something like this: to this: Now the neighbors only complain a little 3

Cigar Surgeon Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Soda pop always tasted better from the glass bottle side loaded vending machines. I don't know why, but it's true. 2

That's just a stock photo in my post but I think that was "Brothers in Arms", this is the original with "Sultans of Swing". I heard it at my next door neighbor's house when he bought it in '77ish I think. We thought Sultans was just the coolest song then. 1

I still think Sultans is the coolest song ever. I heard it first in NYC one morning in my hotel room across from Madison Sq Garden looking over to the Empire State Bldg and couldn't believe that riff... still gives me goosebumps of joy listening to it. Had the pleasure to have Mark Knopfler on one of my flights and it did heighten my appreciation of the guy. So nice, humble and cool. 1
