The Dunhill store in Houston was the first place I ever bought a cigar, and the only place I've been able to smoke indoors outside of my home. I really miss that place.

That was before I knew about Cubans.

Fascinating read, thank you!

Great read indeed.

If it is not already too late, it would be marvelous to have a full understanding of the procurement process of that time. Rob Fox has detailed the Fox process for their brand cigars but I wonder how different the Dunhill process was.

I would love to believe the following!

The tobaccos used in their manufacturing were suitable for long maturing periods, which made for an unforgettable smoking experience. Before creating his own brand, Dunhill first sold the best Cuban brands, which included Partagás, H. Upmann, La Corona, Cabañas, Belinda, Romeo y Julieta, El Rey del Mundo, Ramón Allones, Hoyo de Monterrey, Montecristo, Bolívar, Punch, Por Larrañaga, and La Flor de Cuba. Although these were cigars from ordinary productions, they stood out from the crowd because they belonged to the Dunhill Selección Suprema. Only cigars made from the best Cuban tobacco were included in the Selección, making the boxes and cabinets sold in Dunhill stores stand out from other similar cigars available on the market by offering an even higher quality

I have a pair of Dunhill golf shorts with bulldogs all over them if it matters.  They are to this day the finest pair of shorts I have ever worn, and they have a timeless look to them as well.  Only problem is I am not supposed to iron them because of the fabric used in their creation.  A fact my wife doesn't find so fascinating I might add.

I rather enjoyed the Dominican Dunhill cigars as well.  They were a fascinating smoke pre cigar boom of the 90s.

One of my favorite cigar spots in the world is in Japan at the aquarium at Alfred Dunhill in Ginza on third floor. Cigars after 5pm. Great spot with some of their motorcycle memorabilia.

  Great read thanks John.

I wonder how pricing was compared to regular production at the time. I seem to remember reading something saying that they were at quite a mark up, similar to Reserva/Behike level pricing in today's catalogue
