I have about 12 PM's and 5 emails this morning re construction on the Punch SS1 up on BR.

I made a comment the other day re Punch SS1 that it is always a good idea to reach out to the seller for a construction opinion if you can.

No....I didn't know we had a 2008 Punch SS1 on BR :shead:

Well done for reaching out!

Excellent cab. Construction feels spot on.

Here is the a pic of the feet.

I don't think there would be any reason to assume construction issues on an 08 box of anything.

I swear a week ago I mentioned to Rob that I'd be interested in the SS1 on Bond Roberts, after he posted about the 4th of July sale and he said ask the vendor about construction. I don't know if he just assumed it was a 99-01 box, as there seems to be a lot of those boxes around.

...I had no idea we were listing one.

It highlights my level of  involvement in day to day operations :D

There is still a lot of hesitancy out there about long skinnies and construction. Mind you, I don't consider a 42 gauge to be a skinny but plenty of people think that 42 is bordering on anorexic :cigar:

Rob did post that email about a 99 box last week:

This was a little before that.

But maybe he thought that was what I was asking about

I had an 08 Cab I bought from FOH and all were perfect construction.

Was about to say this. My 2008 cab from Rob that I bought....8 years ago? 9 years ago? a while ago. ...has always been spot on, I've tucked into about 1/3 of the cab.

Great construction, delicious Punch flavour... 08s are winners for me.

It was Nov 2012. So 8 1/2 years ago.

Not that it matters!

My shrink says that's Irrational Anxiety Disorder.

On a serious note, I will say it shows how devastating just 3 years of lousy QC can be. It launched a thousand ships of NC marketing and 20 years later it still instills fear.

I get more tight draws on recent production than 99-01 cigars now. Probably a combination of 20 years of rest and a fair bit of luck on my part but that's my experience.

But I will say that the 01 cigars specifically have been a little too light in flavour compared to 98-00 and 02.

I'm seeing more plugs on recent Belicosos/Piramides than I used to , but otherwise it's more windtunnels that's the problem, particularly with REs. Except the PL Corona. So many plugs in those cabs.

01s did have flavour issues, agreed. But it wasn't across the board. I've had some 01 Diplomaticos, by example, that still packed a wallop 15 years on.

I would say my tight draw rate is about 10% overall. 2 per box, and I can usually tell. Hard as a rock.

I would say cigars unsalvageable with the Perfecdraw is way under 1%. Maybe 1/200+.

I've seen a slight uptick in tight draws in the Connie 1 in 20. Nothing else comes to mind.

Just had two tight minutos today. It varies a lot by vitola. For me worst in minutos and Laguito no. 2. I mean I don't expect tight draws on Rio Secos 😂

My Minutos rate is pretty consistent with all vitolas. I have had tight draws on some larger RG. Mag 54 and Vigia come to mind. It's happened on a Connie A. Laguito 1 & 2 are rarely a problem for me, nor are PLMC and MdO4. I can't recall having to use the Perfecdraw on either more than once in many years.

Not my experience. Though variability is high.

I've had a box of C&Cs (Partagas MF) that was 2/3 too tight, most of which were a pain to smoke even after perfecdraw.

Laguito No. 1 the least problematic of the ones you mentioned. All the others have had tight draws. I don't smoke tons of PLMC but definitely have used the perfecdraw on more than one in the last year. I smoke even less MdO4 so my stats there wouldn't mean anything.

I find years of age on the box makes a difference to me though, most of my cigars are 2019-2020 and very few 2017 or earlier.
