The first third I smoked: grassy bland taste . From Cuban blends, more like Quintero. Intense puffs give pepper. There is no Cuban character, but the body and strength are not bad, the blend and profile are closer to the Nicaraguan Perdomo Champagne. Blindly, I would have identified it as NC.
This is a fake, a comparison with the original band confirmed the fears.
On the top of the photo is the original band, on the bottom is a fake.
The relief on the original band is pressed out more clearly, the paper of the original is glossy, fake - matte. The edge of the band is cut off on the original at a right angle, on the fake trapezoid. For dessert - vivisection

Some fake Monte 2s were the best fakes I've smoked so your mileage may vary

My dad bought them in Cuba, so likely Cuban tobacco. He really had to pester the seller to get Montes as all he had on hand were Cohibas and it was a long ordeal for him to find the Monte 2s as he had to hunt around for them. His travel companion grew increasingly uncomfortable hanging out with the shady seller for so long 😂

On the other hand I got some terrible Monte 4s from a friend who went to Cuba and the box wasn't even the right format or marked Monte 4.
