Hey everyone, first post here.

So not a heavy smoker. One every 2 weeks maybe and only a handful of cubans so far. Narrowed my taste to more Mild to Med strength and more fruity, sweat tasting ones.

I smoked 2 Montecristo No2's so far and really like it.  For these, how would you describe the middle 3rd of this cigar?  to me this is what I am looking for in a nice cigar.. it leaves like a oily, caramel flavor in my mouth.

So knowing I can't really try all the other cubans out there, what other brands or cigars have that similar profile in the middle third of the No2?

mild to medium strength does not generally include Partagas.

I'd suggest RyJ Ex #4, Hoyo Epi 2, Upmann Conny 1, Monte #4, and for sure, can't pass up a Cohiba Robusto

There is no caramel notes in the Montecristo line. Not to my palate.

Nothing tastes like a MC2 to me. I say this while smoking one.

This is a very fair point.  There are many sub-par MC2's but when they are 'on' they are legitimately one of the best CC"s, and there is nothing like them when they are on top form.   Along with Punch marca they are one of the best exponents of pure Cuban tang/twang.

Like many have pointed out on here, I don't particularly see MC2's as caramel driven,  rather rich creamy milk chocolate.

If you are after a bit of cocoa rich indulgence,  Give Vegas Robaina a go. Or Rafael Gonzales Petit Coronas.    They all have their own interesting elements to bring to the party, but there is definitely a bit of crossover with the MC2 in these cigars

Other than that try some other great Monte's   Especial no 1 and no 2, Petit Edmundo etc   these are some of the FOH forum favourites.
