Popular Post teamrandr Posted May 29, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 29, 2021 A forum favorite that just so happens to be a favorite of mine as well. These along with the petit tubos and Reyes are my go to petit corona. Once the Temps get above 60 in Michigan I usually pair my cigars with rose. I find that the flavors of the rose allow for the cigar to be the main player. I also find the crispness helps cleanse the palate. Aroma at cold is pleasant. Milk chocolate with a nice smooth tobacco note. This particular sample sports a nice darker wrapper. A bit toothy but appealing none the less. 1/3 Opening draws are perfect. A mocha latte like note is up front. The retrohale brings out a touch of bitter coffee. Really enjoyable so far. The milk chocolate aspect is there. Vanilla is in the background. Mocha/milk chocolate with vanilla and coffee. 2/3 The progression is nice. A richer vanilla is in play with the chocolate. Reminiscent of a chocolate chip cookie slightly overdone. Notes of brown sugar, chocolate, vanilla, coffee all mingle on the palate. Burn has been spot on with draws that are just a touch tight. Halfway The flavors become more robust. The bitterness picks up but is welcome as it seems to highlight some esspresso notes. Toffee shows up and is welcomed. Espresso, milk chocolate, toffee, hint of sweetness. Vanilla seems to be gone for now. Final 3rd Hard to find a fault here. Not complex but a wonderful combination of flavors. Chocolate and esspresso mix well with a rich toffee/ brown sugar note. Score: Thumbs up I'm not sure how I feel about scoring on the 100 point scale anymore. Not much to find fault in here. The flavors were not complex but well balanced. I still give the Reyes the nod over these but no doubt the no. 4 has a place in the rotation. 8
StogieSteve23 Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Nice review. I too have enjoyed the rose' pairing with a cigar. I find that as long as its not an overpowering cigar, the rose' cleanses the palate and provides that cool crispiness like you said. Hit the nail on the head. 2
