Popular Post Rhinoww Posted May 25, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 25, 2021 First an admission. I wasn’t planning on a review tonight. Rather, I wanted to visit a box I had not dipped into for about six months. The last stick wasn’t very good. Hoping they improved. Looking in the fridge I saw this goose island IPA. I had not had that in a long time so why not. Like long lost brothers. Given the size I’ll go in two parts. The petit royale started with a strong tobacco flavor. Uh oh didn’t taste much else except a bite. The ipa smoothed those edges nicely. After a few centimeters though the smoke evened out and became quite creamy, adding in notes of cherry and the elusive hints of mint I love to find periodically in RyJ, last tasted in an Ex 4 some time ago. I’m usually more of a Belgian/lager/heffe kinda beer guy. This ipa had a bit of hops to it but I dare say complimented the stick well. This six pack was included as part of a charity gala at home dinner and drink kit. I might enjoy the remaining beer my guests didn’t drink no photos on the second half as it got dark and I got lazy. Perfect burn excellent construction and well a really nice 35 min smoke. The hint of mint passed quickly but the cream and touch of cherry remained smoke was thick very enjoyable this stick played well above its league and earned this box a move from one of the aging containers to the regular rotation Coolidor with a few in the singles tray and upstairs as well 7
Edicion Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Nice. Whenever I have an IPA with a cigar I feel it overtakes the flavor too much, glad to hear it went in this case.
