El Presidente Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 One for our FOH Columbo crew Cohiba boxed Cuban Cigars two boxes one sealed (35). Estimate $200 Pound.
Bijan Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/packaging/information#Union_and_Warranty_Seals IO would be 2006-2009 KN is not listed, last listed prefix is J for 2010/2011. So possibly after that if legitimate. Any idea on the data stamps? Edit: Should be 6 digits/numbers I think, so the second one is out. 3

Ryan Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 The fonts used for the IO (Looks bold) and KN (looks about half the size of the numbers) on the warranty seals. I have never seen those fonts on any box of Habanos cigars in any shop anywhere which gets its stock from an official distributor. Also, as Bijan says, I don't think KN existed. Also, 5 digits after the KN, I think there were always at least 6 digits in the number. 3
Fuzz Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 I'd take a punt.... punt them into the next county, that is. 1
Islandboy Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 That’s a no for me. The Cohiba and Taino head embossed on the lid are at least centered from side to side on the box of fugglies on the left, but not even close on the sealed box.
KavalanWhisky Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 not sure if its the photos but they look a little short as well, like Robustos. 1
mprach024 Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Absolutely. Love Sig VI and that’s too good of deal to pass up! Finally looks like Cohiba prices are dropping. 3
Popular Post Ryan Posted May 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 21, 2021 I see where those boxes are for sale. While we here know these are fake, and know they are fake without even having to open the boxes, auction houses that deal in estate sales and antiques don't have a clue. None of them have a "cigar person" anymore. If you didn't know what to look out for, these look fine, a bit of damage but fine. "I mean, who would fake a cigar?" From the look of them, I'd guess they were bought in Cuba from an "unofficial retailer..". The look of the boxes and cigars is too good to be from most places and not good enough to be from the rest. They are squarely in the Cuba section of the fake spectrum. Every tourist in Cuba who "just wants to bring home some cigars for a friend" gets caught in this. It's almost always Cohiba or Montecristo. 99%. From 50 feet away, if I see a box of Cohiba or Montecristo without a health warning sticker or a distributor/retailer sticker, I'm suspicious. And usually right to be. The box doesn't even need to be opened. 4 3

I know a few Cuban people involved in tourism in Cuba. Every now and then they will give me a cigar from a "friend in the business" who wants to start supplying cigars for their tourist clients. I light them, some have tasted OK but when I open them up for a look, the best ones I've seen so far are still short filler. Cuban fakes, when they are in packaging, generally have a fair stab at the packaging, like the boxes above in this thread. They still have a hard time with the warranty seals, box codes etc. but at least they try to fake boxes that actually exist in the real world. Not always (I've seen cellophane bundles of 25 etc.) but usually. A good example of what is to be found elsewhere in the Caribbean, or possibly best described as spots where North American cruise lines visit, can be seen here. You generally don't see those boxes in Cuba.
