smbauerllc Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Anyone have opinions on the Quintero Nacionales?Nice and cheap, like all the Quinteros, and I have enjoyed the Favoritos and Tubulares, so am considering getting a few of these to try. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk 1
BoliDan Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Check out the cheap and cheerful forum. Lots of good resources reviews for the quintero line. The pantelas can be good, but I think it is worth the extra coin for long filler. https://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/forum/26-quotcheap-amp-cheerfulquot/ 2

Ginseng Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 The Quinteros can be characterized as "dirty tobacco." Cheap, good, but honestly don't expect too much. Age is hit or miss. If you can get them cheap, they certainly make for a nice change of pace. I would and have put up a bunch of bundles just because. 1

CaptainQuintero Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 They're ok for me, nothing to write home about though, a bit bland. They don't have the intensity of flavour that the Panetelas have, but are more refined than the Brevas. I go Panetelas for flavour, Brevas for rustic and flighty, or the Robustos for something more easy smoking. That's my top 3 from the brand in order and don't reach for any of the rest.

I smoke a fair number of JLP's too. I enjoy the Cazadores and petite Cazadores 1

smbauerllc Posted May 9, 2021 Author Posted May 9, 2021 Tubulares and Panetelas are the same cigar just different packaging so you should enjoy them still Didn't know that, thanks. Does the smaller rg of the Panetelas have much effect on taste?Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk It's probably generally accepted that thinner ring gauges have a more intense flavour profile across the board. Wether it's down to more wrapper ratio or less filler volado, or something else. If it's that here or just the blend I'm not sure, could be both! 1

The new Tubulares release is a different vitola separate to that but caries the same name for some reason

So H & F has their own tubes made for Panetelas labelled Tubulares that sits next to actual Tubulares on the retailer shelf? How are the 10 packs labelled and packaged?

A nicer tube and and a red cap, then in a plain white cardboard box that's two rows of 5. Looking around, it looks like the UK Tubulares is around but mostly out of stock so I'm wondering if they are being phased out as stocks run down in favour of the new Tubulares. Interestingly the Favoritos is also available in a tube in the UK, same style as the new Tubulares (Light blue cap). I haven't seen this elsewhere and it isn't listed on CCW as a packaging option 2

I never saw this but CCW does indeed have it listed: History: There is also a discontinued machine-made Panetelas (1). Repacked in the UK into aluminium tubes and sold in P10 as "Tubulares". I'm assuming "repacked in the UK" means this is indeed an H & F thing. So have Panetelas in 25s even been available in the UK? If @ATGroom has the Vegueritos-Tubulares notated if you can find some evidence of the Favoritos in Tubes he might want to add that packaging option.

I might be wrong but I can't remember the 25 count Panetelas being available until relatively recently. I suspect they were if you asked as they would have just been at the H&F warehouse and most shops were happy to go root around if they were nearby or choosing stock But yes definitely a H&F thing and always were decent quality stock used. I never had plugged or poor examples like you tend to get in the 25 count Good quality tubes in terms of image design and construction too. Bit sad that they seem to be discontinued H&F always seem to have tried things ahead of Cuba, they've had a H&F aged program for many years now, I'm guessing Cuba used this as an idea for their anajedos or reserva program. 1
Ginseng Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Oy, would love to obtain a specimen for the historical tubes collection. This one is interesting.
NSXCIGAR Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Looks like the Favoritos Tubos are coming from HSA. Mostly UK, but some European vendors outside the UK: Russia, Greece:
ATGroom Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Fair enough... not seen the Favoritos tubes before, will add them to CCW. Any idea of release date? And yes, the UK Tubulares is Panetelas repackaged by Hunters is my understanding. I think they are discontinued since the new Tubulares from HSA was released, so any residual might be just working through old stock.
