Cohiba Robusto - ASR DIC 17 (VVRW#1)

I've purchased quite a few boxes of Cohiba at this point, all of which are untouched and set aside to rest. I've actually only smoked a couple Cohibas so far, the Robusto and Siglo VI from the 2020 Christmas sampler, which were okay experiences but probably needed more rest than they had to be as good as they could be with the amount of age they had, which was also relatively little compared to what people often recommend for Cohiba.

This was my first 24:24 purchase, and I managed to let it rest for over 6 months before finally giving in and deciding to light one up. Just over 6 months of rest and 3 years of age, so still relatively young for a Cohiba but hopefully this will shape up to be a better experience than the last CoRo, which was smoked after less than 2 months of rest and under a year of age.

First third: Opens with hay and some light sweetness. Cream and grassiness join in shortly after the initial puffs, as the sweetness takes on some honey notes. There's a touch of lemon zest, and a few puffs begin to show a peppery spice, but the spice fades away just as quickly as it appeared.

Middle third: Nice grassy hay and a touch of nuttiness. The honey sweetness has diminished a bit, but some freshly baked bread notes have joined in. At times it almost reminds me of Honey Nut Cheerios when the bread notes and the honey sweetness combine just right.

Last third: More of the same mix of pleasant flavors, with some occasional floral notes. However, the cigar starts to tunnel in this last third and the center of the cigar burns through to the nub before the rest of the cigar, ruining the end of what was shaping up to be an excellent smoke.

Overall: Burn issues towards the end hurt the flavor and ruined the smokeability of most of the last third, but up until that happening this was excellent. With how well Montecristo, Hoyo, Bolivar, and Partagas have been smoking young for me, I'm happy to let my Cohibas chill in the corner for a few more years and really maximize that flavor. 90/100
