Having smoked quite a few Talisman I have to say I've enjoyed the Esplendidos and SW more. I wouldn't pay more for a Talisman, let alone 200-300% more.

Aside from the difficulty in obtaining these, my experience with Monte 2 of that era was not good. I recall them being all over the place in terms of quality and consistency (more than usual). Perhaps those that are available today have become great, but at the time, I was never impressed. Especiales 1/2 of that era, on the other hand, were outstanding.

Well, was F5ing and fired off pre drafted email on Sunday night, but missed out on the Winstons then too late for the Esplendidos. In my young CC journey, I’ve seem to gravitate toward Punch, and BR got me last night! Got a full box of 1998 Punch Monarcas, which will be my “special occasion” cigar.

Hope I’m not disappointed but I like the Punch flavor and I couldn’t find a single bad review on these sticks. Worst case is I can sell them back in a few years if the juice ain’t worth the squeeze and get most my money back. Best case is this lasts for special occasions till the children I don’t even have yet get married!

Older style Punch can really age well.  I bet those Monarcas are great.
