I bought a 5x10-pack of these last year as they seemed to get favourable reviews from a lot of FOHers. It felt like a good choice for a 15min-ish smoke based on reviews/discussions here.

However... having had a dozen or so, I'm feeling barely any more positive about them that I would about a Cafe Creme!

What am I missing? Could I have been unlucky? I'm assuming these are relatively consistent as cigars go?

Being machine made they are much more consistent than most Cuban cigars.

They are considered among the best machine made short filler cigarillos that Cuba makes. That is not saying much and one of the 3 entreactos, handmade long filler cigars, would probably be better if you want a "real" cigar, though at considerable additional cost, also slightly longer smoke time (closer to 20 minutes). (Romeo y Julieta Petit Julietas, El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse, Hoyo de Monterrey le Hoyo du Maire being the names of those cigars).

If you're comparing them to a cigar, you're not doing it right. Cigarillos/Puritos are designed to give you a short little hit of Cuban taste. Which I will admit, they usually do. They are pretty heavy on seco, albeit shredded. I've never had a mild one. The most mild ICT I've had are the RyJ Puritos. The Trini and Cohiba Shorts should deliver a decent kick. If they're mild to you I'm not sure any CC will be strong enough for you.

The next time you smoke one pretend you are sipping tea.   These tiny smokes reward very gentle puffs.

Probably the problem, yes, is that I do want a "real" cigar.

I'm not doing it right! Though for that "hit" of taste, I was hoping for something tastier.

I still have 35 left so I'll give it a try!

Thanks

I'm with you on this one, don't mind a pub garden cafe creme when the occasion calls, shame they changed the name, lost the nostalgia.

Try the Montecristo mini blue's if you can find them, might get a pack of mini's in for St Paddy's Day down the pub shed tonight actually now.
