best ever prison break movies

personally, this list is about thirty movies too long. some absolute rubbish here. remakes of the defiant ones and papillon? they should not be in any 'best of' list other than movies never to watch because you can't get the time back. 

also, i would never have 'con air' in a best of list (best of steve buscemi's creepiest performances?) but it belongs a hell of a lot higher on this list than many. 

shame this wasn't simply a top ten list.

A Man Escaped and Midnight Express for me. 

Also, a little different but T-34, a Russian movie from 2019 set during WWII has a prison break and some great tank action on the Eastern Front.

Shawshank Redemption is No.7 on that list but for me, that film has usurped all the others. The Great Escape and A Man Escaped, at No.1 and No.2 on that list respectively, are also great choices.
